gibber 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Which z-engineering charger is it? there are 3 different types if I remeder right. the mk1 which has ceramic bearings and said to last for-ever, and initally cost 4.5K, then came the mk2, that had propperbearings with an oil bath that had to be serviced, the mk2 usually came with ruber pipes instead of carbon fibre. he mk3 had toothed belts I think. VR6 0 Posted January 22, 2006 So how come you've rather rapidly amended your for sale thread and started asking about the longevity of the chargers? Something we should know? ;) http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 8&start=
celica gt4 0 Posted January 22, 2006 i might have a problem with it ive just noticed it lweaking oil. it must be a mk11 coz it has an oil reservoir. will have to sort this first, before i sell sorry for the inconveniance
matth76 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Apparently they're supposed to be serviced every 3k miles (I think). The ZR1 is least reliable as it doesn't have a cogged belt and was prone to slipping leading to other engine damage/problems due to this. The ZR2 was much better because it had the cogged belt. Don't know anything about the ZR3 though I'm afraid.
catch_twotwo 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Every 3K... damn thats an accident just waiting to happen.
corradovr6sc 0 Posted January 22, 2006 The information about servicing the supercharger (zr2) every 3k is incorrect. It is recommended that the engine oil should be changed every 3-5k miles and the supercharger oil should be checked and topped up every 15,000 kilometers (about 9500 miles). celica gt4 0 Posted January 24, 2006 does anyone know how many miles they are good for before a rebuild is required and how it affects the longevity of the engine cheers
