Dub Style 0 Posted January 21, 2006 I've only had my FK highsports for 6mths, the car is garaged stored. Went for MOT yesterday and had a look at them they looked like shit. They were very white just looked orrid, i sprayed all the spray that came with the kit but i guess it wasnt good enough for road salt.

chaz g60 0 Posted January 21, 2006 get some brake cleaner spray and blast them, then tape up the thread
steve_16v 0 Posted January 21, 2006 then tape up the thread Wish I'd thought of doing that when mine were put on. Had them adjusted about two weeks later and they were covered in crap

catch_twotwo 0 Posted January 22, 2006 You think it's bad here you should see places like Austria..... most cars are covered in salt from the road spraying this time of year.
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 22, 2006 just use duct tape
Tempest 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Had good results with the FK spray, which I do apply regularly. You can also use cavity wax sprays like Waxoyl. Then again, I don't drive my coil-overed cars during the winter or during wet weather :-) Tempest
chaz g60 0 Posted January 22, 2006 yeah i use the thick silver tape (think it's duct tape?) it works fine and keeps them clean.
Madjackal 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Thats why Im regularly giving mine a good going over with a stiff brush and spraying some WD40 on.

Madjackal 0 Posted January 23, 2006 waxoyl is the daddy of preservatives, i really rate this stuff :thumb right: Would waxoyl not start to flake away after time tho, could be problematic for coilovers??
chaz g60 0 Posted January 23, 2006 copper grease spray seems pretty good
Trig 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Should I be doing this sort of thing to my shocks & springs or is it a coilover only club?
chaz g60 0 Posted January 23, 2006 it's just to stop the thread seizing up really
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 23, 2006 I use waxoyl on mine too, seems to do the trick.
