blue95 0 Posted February 13, 2006 When changing gears quickly there is a knocking noise from the front (not evident during slow gear change). As a result I am considering changing the engine mounts on my C, it is a 1995 16v. Is it best to replace the lot or just the one that is knackered? Also does anyong know what the torque settings are for the bolts, when I hopefully do it all back up? Thanks

Thanks After 130,000 miles it was just the front one that was shot on mine, that one takes the bulk of the strain, replaced my gearbox one but that was fine, didn't really need changing. the rear one just has the engine weight sitting on it doesn't really take any strain, Nothing wrong with it at all when I had the engine out of the car. I did the same on mine at similar miles. The front one was shot to pieces, the gearbox one was not too bad, and I left the rear one alone.
blue95 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Thanks for you replys! Is it pretty obvoius to see which one has gone, e.g. are the 16v mounts oil filled and will this be leaking out? P.S. The car has done 107,000 miles!
