found the leak with pics? any ideas?

hi lads first chance to have a good look at my coolant leak not losing a shed load of water but enought its coming from the just near the pas belt any ideas heres the pics

 

you can see the pas belt and sump!

 

 

Anyone know where its coming from?

looks like water pump or a pipe to the water pump

definately looks like the water pump mate! thats a very similar leak that i had a while back, a new pump will sort that problem out!

i had a leak similar to that until yesterday. was the thermostat housing, apparntly made out of recycled bumper plastic :S

If you're getting a new water pump to fit your self, buy VAG. I bought the g s f for the Golf and was one tatty peice of work, nasty rough edges etc. Im sure you know to ensure all surfaces are clean when putting back together and use a new seal

I've just found the leak on mine - looks like the thermostat housing. Any ideas on how much these are? GSF don't do them apparently, so i'm assuming main dealer only?

Definatly, especially as they may offer an 'exchange' which they do for the 9a so is only around £30 IIRC.

I'm hoping to change mine this weekend. Has anyone done it before, looks a bit of a bastard to get to! My local veedub specialist is getting one in for me, but I still don't know how much they are. Any ideas?

Thermostat Housing. For a VR if that makes a differences. Can't seem to get a price on them.

VR one is different. I wouldn't say it's too expensive off the dealer.

id only use a vag pump. i put a new pump on the G60 a while back. i bought it from a gsf type place and im sure it isn't as efficient as the vag one. maybe a different impeller.

 

only a tenner more so go vag.

VAG is the same price is you buy the whole pump (not just the impeller) - the VW impellers are plastic rather than metal...

yeah i just got one from my local steelers and its about £60 but when i return the old one i get some money back YAH!
