1995 VR6 COILPACK ??

ok , i would like a little help ? if possible. :roll:

i only use my 95 vr6 1 day a week ,

its only done 70K , but 6 days a week it stands in my yard in the

"northeast" damp wet snowy weather !

when i first take it out it has a bit miss -n- fart on ?

as i go from 1st to 2nd gear it misses a beat ?

so ive just replaced leeds & plugs ?

still the same when damp , but :roll: ok when its dryed out after a good run .

so could it be COILPACK ? if so where can i get a new coilpack at a good price ? & what is a resonable price for a new coilpack .

I paid around 70+VAT from Vag about a year ago, but they go on ebay all the time for around £50

TBH thought here are loads of things which may be causing the symptoms you describe from temp senders to cam position sensors - I would try and hook it up to VAG-COM first before spending your money on coilpacks

I've had the exact same problem this week & as a long-time VR owner, I've learned the difference between damp & a knackered coil-pack. 99% of the time, it's damp & the cure is easy:

 

1) Remove all plug leads from coil-pack (note down fitting order!)

2) Spray a generous amount of brake cleaner over the coil-pack

3) Clean thoroughly with a clean rag using more brake cleaner & allow to dry

4) Ensure there is no crud inside and around the ends of the plug leads before re-fitting

5) Coat the whole thing liberally with WD40 & away you go :)

 

When the coil-pack goes, it doesn't ever run right and sounds & feels horrible as you're only running on 4 cylinders.

There *is* an intermediate stage of coil pack failure, where the casing cracks. This will allow it to run "ok" sometimes but not others. I'm afraid that just like everything else in Corrado land, this is not quite so black and white, either ...

Could you tell me if the SNAP-0N computer thingee will do the same job?

when my first corrado vr6 had ignition probs , local garage pluged this handheld thingee into a plug under my gearstick & it gave me a choice of faults? :roll:

OK i couldnt wait for VAG-COM . :roll:

so i got a brand new coil pack £140 , fitted it today .

as i was taking old one off i spotted a MEGA CRACK ? (she smiled & walked past ) :lol:

 

 

narr i had a crack right down one corner of plastic bit on coilpack.

when i fitted new pack i felt possative .

OHHHyessssssss my baby is like BRAND NEW now ! :shock:
