lexstar8v 0 Posted August 1, 2006 My 1.8 16v corrado keeps overheating after even very short journeys. By that. I mean the coolent boils to such an extent it gushes out of the hole on the expansion tank. Which is normally covered by that black cover thingy. I don't seem to have any leaks from any of the rubber piping. Has anyone got any ideas? thanks alex
bcstudent 0 Posted August 1, 2006 Either your thermostat isn't opening, your water pump has expired, or the cap on the expansion tank has failed.
mistrall 0 Posted August 3, 2006 yes i concour , also - is your water pump working??!!
chubbybrown 0 Posted August 3, 2006 Check the rubber seal is actually sitting in the base of the cap in the right place, they are known to not seat right. what temps is it showing. I replaced the waterpump, thermostat along with G12 as a precaution and even I managed it. I would also consider checking if the radiator is blocked. I would also check the oil for water contamination Roy
Crasher 3 Posted August 3, 2006 As CB says, check the "O" ring inside the cap, especially if you have the earlier black cap. The modified replacements are blue.
