vdubCorrado 0 Posted October 7, 2006 uhh do what? i've uh... never seen a stock 8v corrado... but i have seen an ABA 2.0 8v swapped into a corrado and it was as explained felt like a rabbit diesel (really wasn't that slow but from a stage 4 G60 to not having a daily driver and having to make do for gas milage it was bad...) CazzaVR 0 Posted October 7, 2006 Always thought they were supposed to be painfully slooooow, but when I actually got to drive one, it wasn't too bad. 0-60 is around 10 seconds-not great, but not too bad either. Very good fuel economy, and of course they look the same as any other Rado 8)
nocrap 0 Posted October 7, 2006 But then again the 16v is supposed to be around 10 seconds 0 -
Tempest 0 Posted October 7, 2006 i've uh... never seen a stock 8v corrado... Correct, as they never were sold in the US :-) They're rare (compared to the more standard G60s, VR6s, and 16Vs), I give it that, and as such may hold their own in the Corrado carmarket (if that's the right word). daves16v 1 Posted October 7, 2006 End of the day it's the bottom of the range Corrado in terms of performance but the best economically.
CazzaVR 0 Posted October 8, 2006 nocrap, there are lots of conflicting times for the 2.0 16v. Having owned 3, I'd say 8.5 is a better estimate. Interesting to see the stats in that Nothelle article had the figure at 8.1 secs.
Walesy 0 Posted October 8, 2006 I like 8v's , i've had 2 and tbh I much prefer the engine to the 16v, i'd go as far as saying that given the choice between the 8v and the 16v i'd go for the 8v. It's a very economic engine, parts are cheap and easy to find, and they are very easy to fix. It doesn't feel like you're driving a performance car like when you're in a G60 or VR6, but if you're not interested in performance then they're a good all round car IMO
Deluk 0 Posted October 8, 2006 yeah my 8v golf was good on fuel , i rec the 0 to 60 on a 16v 20l is around 8.7 secs maybe better when you get kr cams fittted. Deluk
Phil K 0 Posted October 8, 2006 This has to be one of the nicest 8V's I've ever seen 8)
