jimbo jones 0 Posted November 15, 2006 ABS light is on, diagnostics machine is saying that the ecu is unhappy with the voltage supply, i have checked both fuses and they both look fine? Anybody else had this problem. Oh yeah 2.0l 16v 95 plate.
vr6storm 0 Posted November 15, 2006 have you had any leaks inside the cabin?? could be the ABS ECU getting all "furred" up with corrosion, its behind the kick panel in the pass.footwell
jimbo jones 0 Posted November 16, 2006 No leaks as far as i can tell ECU looks as clean a whistle, if that is the problem how is it solved?

Mike Edwards 0 Posted November 21, 2006 The power relay for the ABS is another source of this particular problem.
jimbo jones 0 Posted November 21, 2006 Which one is the power relay?
Mike Edwards 0 Posted November 21, 2006 On my VR6 it's on a completely seperate mounting on the passenger side of the dash.
ZippyVR6 0 Posted November 22, 2006 On my VR6 it's on a completely seperate mounting on the passenger side of the dash. agreed, passenger side relay 21, you will need to take out the under glovebox tray to get to it.

You can get to it without removing the glovebox tray but it's tight.
dr_mat 0 Posted November 23, 2006 It will report this if the power has gone off, ever. That means any time you unplug the battery. Clear the fault. Don't worry about it unless it comes back ...
kongo127 0 Posted November 26, 2006 I´m having the same problem over here, although it´s a 1992 G60. Yesterday it was raining like mad! Lots of floods everywhere, but the car was running OK! Today, the ABS light won´t come off, even after a long trip, along with several engine starts. I still didn´t have the chance to look at this... My first bet is to inspect the ABS sensors and plugs? Cheers!
jimbo jones 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Had a guy check out my ABS over the weekend. The two relays that the ABS system uses on my 2.0l 16v are 79 and 179 not the number 21 that has been mentioned before. The guy has told me that from when you turn on the ignition power goes to the ABS ecu but does not stay there. Dodgy ecu possibly? Any more ideas welcome. Really confused now.
