Dub_nut_g60 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Ok guys, cI have changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm on my G60 but now she just will not start. Am thinking i knackered a lead, does anyone have any spare they can brong round? or just give some help, need to get the car running ass going out tonight and tomorrow!! flusted 0 Posted January 27, 2007 check the carbon brush is still in the dizzy cap, get engine to tdc, then make sure rotor arm is pointing to small groove in dizzy, then fit the cap. The lead above the rotor arm will be number 1,then work around from there. (cant remember firing order or rotation)
Dub_nut_g60 0 Posted January 27, 2007 cheers aide. how do i get the engine to TDC?????
Toad 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Either pull a plug (1 or 4) out andstick a screwdriver in the hole and wait till it stops going up or use the timing marks on the camshaft. The two dots need to be either side of the rockerbox gasket iirc.
flusted 0 Posted January 28, 2007 riley has some good pics of tdc marks

Dub_nut_g60 0 Posted January 29, 2007 Cheers guys will have another look when i get home this eve as didnt have anytime saturday night or sunday. Should of said the plugs are getting covered in carbon after only a couple of mins in the engine while its not starting. Will also check for a spark later too. If anyone wants to pop round to give help it would be appreciated as i am almost useless when it comes to diagnosing problems!! If not ill call Mr RAC to come fix!! Jim 2 Posted January 30, 2007 Best thing to do when doing the disty cap is just change them one at a time from the old onto the new - then you know you wont bugger up the order! :)

dinkus 10 Posted January 30, 2007 So exactly at what point was it that you discovered that you were stupid? Putting 6 litres too much oil in the engine, throwing a match at a petrol-doused BBQ or putting the HT leads on the wrong way round?
