Nuts! Nice find! Never thought about watching the bay.. must pick up a set of these myself at some point!

Actually there are a few cheapy sets if you scout around on the Bay... when i'm ready to get some, I think i'll be going there rather than brand new from VAG!

came accross this thread last week, gave me the idea of checking the bay & i won a set for £35.99 inc postage, they just turned up today & i'm very pleased...no more cack handbrake hopefully!!! cheers

You also need the mk2 to banjo conversion hoses that C&R sell...

 

It's a good upgrade as they are light and have a much better handbrake mech but I would stay away from second hand parts unless the condition is very good as they still go wrong as much as the old mk2 style calipers, just in different ways like seized bleed nipples and alloy corrosion. Also good idea to paint new ones - just look at the state of them on any 5-6 year old mk4...

I've just being told that the MK3 Calipers are a straight swap and are more reliable than the MK4's?

It was Andy at PSI Tuning that said it. Are the MK3's alloy or just as heavy as standard ones?
