boost monkey 0 Posted January 29, 2008 Porting isn't always the best thing for all parts of an engine. For example, the 'step' between the engine exhaust ports and the manifold is actually very useful indeed in pulling exhaust gases out of the cylinders, due to the swirl of the gases as the valves open. Also, I've just finished an engineering report on the head loss across pipe fittings, which basically entails how much flow is lost when comparing a straight pipe to seven different types of bends. 90 degrees are evil.
