Asking way too much.

Boring 20vt goes in easy and get a qpeng plug and play loom and ECU.

Suppose you want it for free as well.

You can't fit a turbo to a 1.8 16v or a turboed engine cheaply or easily sadly.

Here we go again..,i can give you a few ideas,as i gave ideas to many other people who asked the same question before.

I got exellent results by getting parts from my good mate who owns a huge car breakers here in rome,i got the turbo off a crashed Lancia delta integrale evo1,Garret T3/4 turbo, the entire injection system, shorty manifold off eBay.de,injectors off a Fiat coupe valver turbo(Weber/IAW 380cc jobbies,FPR of any Weber equipped car, fuel rail off an old Lancia dedra,

dist with ign. leads off any Weber injected car.

I got a set of ign. leads(Magnacor) off an escort cosworth from eBay.uk,plugs off an escort/sierra cosworth(eBay.uk,all four brand new £9!!),weber TDC timing disk off the Lancia delta evo-that's the only hard to find bit.

Intercooler off a Iveco van but nowdays you can find them mega cheap off eBay.

The other thing that's getting harder to find is the stand alone wiring loom from the delta in good condition because most of the 15+year old looms have been chopped about and are missing plugs etc,you can also use the loom off a cosworth sierra or escort that pop up on ebay but you'll need the matching ECU,be it a P6,P8 etc.

I also added a modded exhaust cam which i aligned up by eye and Mig welded the sproket on.

I can assure you,the car certainly motors well....

Someone once told me you can only have 2 out of the following 3 at any one time:

Performance

Cost

Reliability

If you have high cost and high reliability, you sacrifice performance (engine undertuned to be safe, overengineered parts etc)

If you have high performance and high reliability, you sacrifice cost (paying loads and loads of money to keep the engine in high tune and as a daily for

example)

If you have high performance and high cost, you sacrifice reliability (frequent rebuilds, over stressing components etc)

Would people agree with these statements?

If you have high cost and high reliability...

depends how you quantify them, a Skoda Fabia VRs seems to fit the bill quite well :)

but generally it costs more to go faster and going faster seems to wear things out quicker

I have always said "How fast you want to go is how much money do have/want to spend"

Some ppl have spent little in comparison to others to get a fast car but at the end of the day i bet they have still spent more than you think.

You take the cost of the things you need into account but forget/don't realise the other parts you also need to complete things, mounts, exhaust ecu etc.

aha :D

I was replying to davidwort, but you were too darm quick on the keys!

I guess being a student, I just consider what the engine will cost me and then sling that in whatever shell I have lying around! :?

You need 3 things for an engine to run, fuel, spark (at the right time) and compression.

You've got fuel and a spark, but is it at the right time? I suspect the timing is out, don't know how it's set on the G though. If it's electics or mechanical. I'm sure someone who knows will advise soon.

Have you checked compression? Although I wouldn't expect you'd loose it on all 4 cylinders and you'd get some signs of life if only a couple where good.
