CTWG60 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Anyone know which of these is most similar to the VAG tape that is now disintegrating in the engine bay of my 91 G60 :) Cheers http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... .php#cloth
flusted 0 Posted January 31, 2008 I was about to ask same question, i recently used ice hockey stick tape, its pretty much a perfect match and is about £2.50 a roll and its quite a large roll. Will be re-doing my loom next week when i put the 16/g60 lump in
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 31, 2008 It's the one called "Cloth tape" :-) I've got loads of it. I got it from Audioscape. The advantage of cloth tape is it allows the wires to move, so remains flexible. Insulating tape as you've probably noticed, turns a wiring loom into a rigid log! Andy665 0 Posted January 31, 2008 I've re-wrapped my harness in the cloth tape, looks totally OE and is very easy to work with
CTWG60 0 Posted January 31, 2008 This one then would be the best solution. Cloth tape, adhesive. Black Rayon cloth harnessing tape. Halogen free, self extinguishing. 19mm x 12metre Ref: 3380 £2.47 each, £22.27 for 10. Shame their postage is ridiculously expensive! I'll give GSF a try see if they have any. Dec 1 Posted January 31, 2008 Make sure whatever type you get it's the self extinguishing type like the one CTWG60 put up! I bought a roll of decent "looking" cloth tape off Ebay of all places, but it ignited like a firecracker when I tested it near a flame!!!  Not exactly what you want in a hot engine bay! Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 31, 2008 Aye /\ Oh and it lasts well too. I did some of my loom in cloth tape 3 years ago and it's still nice and black and mint looking. Unlike the stuff VW used which dried out and started unwinding as soon as you drove the car off the forecourt.

dinkus 10 Posted February 4, 2008 group buy? Might be worth seeing how much Audioscape want for it first, but otherwise if you each want 2 rolls and there's 5 of yis, that makes it £3 a roll posted...
