CTWG60 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Anyway what are peoples views on say using internal or external wastegates. I have read that internal ones are better suited for larger boost applications. An external wastegate is going to be cramping at the back of the bay though I would have thought especially as I have ABS?!?? Or am I talking pooh??? ta Robert. Stick the word turbo in your title you should get more input then. :brickwall:

dirtytorque 0 Posted May 18, 2009 *Blows dust of thread* Wow check out all the turbo talk above. I didn't go that way in the end decided to stick with the charger. I am in the process of finishing off my 2.0 16v g60. It s running megasquirt 2 extra and is using a distributorless setup, incorporating a 32-1 trigger wheel. Just updating my thread for posterity. boost monkey 0 Posted May 22, 2009 I know how you feel Rob! Well done for getting it sorted - no way in hell could I wire up MS! what are you doing for intercooling? I'm guessing the black cooler is for oil?
dirtytorque 0 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi Jon. It really isn't that hard to wire up MS to an old car like this.It has quite simple electronics and you can just make use of things that are already there.Just a bit of a pain removing break servo etc to run in the wires. In terms of splicing into the stock loom you just need to get access switched 12 volts and then the fuel pump. Yeah the black radiator in the stock intercooler position is my mocal. You can just make out my pro-alloy fmic infront of the radiator.Same one Yan has on his car I believe. :) Can't wait for the thing to become a car again, and not just an expensive garage sculpture. dirtytorque 0 Posted June 6, 2009 Should be about done playing around with the engine now. Just have to configure the megasquirt properly now which will involve lots of driving. :) About bloody time.Nice to have a car again and not just a mixture of parts in a garage. junkie 0 Posted June 7, 2009 Do me a favour Rob, get me some pictures of the pipes from the supercharger to the intercooler please and also what size are they? If i had 1 constructive criticism is the top rad hose, can you get that a little neater with a different shaped one.

If i had 1 constructive criticism is the top rad hose, can you get that a little neater with a different shaped one. yeah it I hear you but it is perfectly functional.just got back from over an hours drive which included all types of driving and no coolant temp dramas so coolant is circulating. There are alot of things i want to do in that general area. a boost return for one and also a engine breather into the intake system via a catch tank. My main concern at the mo though is a reasonable level of driveability and lambda control for the MOT which is due soon. My supercharger to intercooler pipework is horrible.Just made of of multiple sections of stuff I had lying around.I was loathed to spend too much money until i saw that it worked. So now i can refine it a bit.Actually it is stuff you probably already had at some point because I think you had a pro-alloy (jabba sport )fmic did you not? dirtytorque 0 Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks for the interest and comments. I drove it for the first time last week actually abd it was a horrible experince.I was rushing because I wanted to take it to stonor park and it just wasn't ready.Megasquirt wasn't setup right and I had a faulty radiator and the temps were creeping up. Have had a week to iron these things out and today was the most enjoyable drive I have had in thus far.Nearly normal driving.Still needs alot of work on the map side of things but I'd be happy to make a longish journeys in it now. Hopefully it is going in the right direction.
