Your car is my car's evil twin. Same wheels, same basic engine etc, but yours is the dark and moody one

mines running at a pathetic 0.7bar... i have only raced a scooby really, and a saxo VTR or S whatever they are, was so funny, over took this guy and he followed me thinking he had a chance :cuckoo: i put a mile in between us in seconds it felt like, but im just immature and like thrashing these boy races

Nothing pathetic about 0.7bar when it's blowing into a VR6! Mine made 392hp with that much boost at the last Stealth Dyno day, so there's loads of potential in these engines. This is just the start, plenty more tuning and fun and games to follow :D

Don't waste your VRT's breath on Chavs mate. They're too easy and can't handle defeat like a man usually, and chase after you to cause some bother as you say.

Save it for the big guns, like V8 M3s

the evil twin, like it!!! how do you get on cleaning the white wheels?? be they get well dirty...

and how the hell did you get that much power from 0.7 bar??

yeah i am going to be having fun and games with this car thats for sure  i wont be wasting petrol racing chavs soon either, will be boring in a few weeks when the honey moon periods over... the people driving the bigger cars i want to race are old though, and think im a chav trying to race them

I usually find the 'M' badge brigade are up for it, and more suprisingly, Merc barges!

yeah the younger BM owners are well up for it, but the porkers and older lot driving the "real" cars drive 50??

I saw this car at stealth when the last owner had it, love the looks so purposefull, your stories make me want more power. Agree with Kev no point wasting time on the chavs just go after the big boys

Nothing a bit of Wonder Wheels can't shift :D I kind of like the 'used' look anyway, so it stays dirty a lot of the time!

It's all about flow :D The VR6 head is very poor at flowing, so to improve that I fitted a Schimmel head with bigger valves and 263 cams. Everything is pretty much Schimmel actually, except the block which Stealth build with Wossner forged pistons. Oh and I have GT35R aswell, which is quite a big turbo :D

I wasn't expecting that much power, especially as I mapped it myself, but it was a cold day and it just kind of dished out an impressive number :D

Yeah the M cars are all doable except the V10 M5. Just too much power, too many revs, too tall a gearing to compete with. At around 400hp the V8 M3 is doable, largely because it's so darn heavy, but E30 and E36 M3s are all too easy :D

This thread is giving me bad thoughts! Anyone wanna swap a VSR for a turbo?

I think you're hitting the nail on the head with restoring the badges to silver and the interior to standard. The speaker pods were just too busy I think.

And as much as I love the style of the wheels am I the only one that thinks the colour doesn't quite go? Probably :D

maybe the colour doesnt go?? but maybe i will give them a refurb one day :D

like you say, the speakers and seats were a bit to....... dare i say, chav?? maybe not chav but they werent for me. Taking most of it back to standard looking, more fun racing people then

and my advice to VR6 people is, put a turbo on it, you wont regret it!!!!

i normally dont like dark wheels but they suit this car nicely, i think its because the huge brakes behind them break things up a bit

Most people seem to love the wheel colour so I'm still trying to work out why I don't !?

Think if they were darker Anthracite maybe or even golder a la Imprezas I might like it, either way they're needed for the Brembos.

I think I know what you mean about the interior. Chav isn't quite the right word, they were just a bit "look at me" although they served a purpose.

Oh and Turbo? one day...

I don't like the wheel colour either, but they do sit well on Ben's car though I have to say. Unfortunately white and bronze are the only colours available for 5x100 in 17". I wasn't keen on my white ones either initially and was going to get rid, but needed something with uber clearance for my APs. But then more and more people started saying they suit the car, so I've decided to keep them.

If Silver was an option, I'd have gone for those instead, but one day, when they need refurbing (which is frequently with 8Js) then I can get them recoloured....

Does that mean I can count you out then Kev? :D It's proper eBay rare!

Must be annoying to find the perfect set of wheels for the job to be so limited by colour choices :( . White looks good in your sig but would be too much of a contrast on this car I so I guess it makes the best of a bad situation.

Well when funds (or self build skills) arise then a VRT sounds like heaven... I'd like to retain the original look of the bay though.

Seen a Red Mk3 VRT on youtube where, other than a few metal boost pipes, you'd think it was standard 8)

i like the wheels, think they suit the moonlight blue, but when they need a refurb i will do them chrome

(only joking  )

the bay in mine looks almost standard mate, it has a brown engine (Marcus tried to spray it the same colour as the wheels, same with the rear badges, good idea but didnt go to well), has a blue pipe and shiny dump valve but im going to put it back to grey and black so it looks completely standard pretty much, plus i want the standard air box back in there... May even change the HT leads from blue to black :cuckoo:

Nice bit of kit the VSR, but been down that road with the Schrick already (and an S/C) and turbos are just THE best thing to do to a VR6. Doesn't even have to be the quickest thing around, it's just the midrange thump and the noises, can't beat it :D VW even paved the way for us. Engine tilted forwards for loads of turbo room, cross flow head, good capacity, VERY tough engine and electronic management.... it was made for turbos!

The first limiting choice is Brake clearance, so that's all the nice BBSs (without spacing) etc out the window straight away :(

Then once you've found the right wheel, you're then limited by offsets, widths and colours but the Jap wheel makers currently offer the best compromise in terms of weight / quality / brake clearance and choice of styles imo.

Not that it's important but it is tricky finding a wheel that isn't 'scened' to death, such as the BBS RS01, so I applaud myself and Ben / Marcus for being a bit different
