Corrado Value? - Opinions please!!

Recommended Posts

Ok - heres one for all you VR6 boys.

What do you rekon this car is valued at:

1994 Corrado VR6, M reg, 50K miles

2 owners from new.

FVWSH

very good (A1) condition, no dents, scrapes etc.

Extras that it has:

Cat 1 alarm

Tracker system

BBS RKII

Koni shocks, H&R springs

CD Player.

What do you rekon the price would be?

Likely to be sold for 9K but some peeps rekon this may be too high? Judging by the examples on autotrader/ for sale locally etc i think this is about right.....

Let the debate begin!!

There's big big variences in the prices for VR6's. I've seen '94 ones range between 11k down to one advertised last week for 2.6k. I suppose it depends on the buyer. If someone just wants 'cheap power', he's not going to be fussy on the rest of the car. It is disheartining to see VR6's advertised for so little when I paid 8.5k for mine. However I wanted a good one and had to pay the asking price. I tend not to pay too much attention to today's prices for c's as it would only frustrate me. :x

If your car is as good as you say and I wanted it, then I'd pay the 9k.(after a bit of haggling of course).

The supercharged C sounds to good to be true.... 'I'll have that as well please' :D

Difference between 'book' price and what a car is genuinely worth are two different things - it all depends on condition...

From what you say I would estimate a 94 VR6 that is mint and with very low miles to be worth around £6k... poss a little more but £9k is very heavy indeed no matter how clean a example it is - a tidy storm can be had for same money....

And I can vouch for the supercharged VR above (Tom Ingrams) - it truely is a beautiful machine. I would go so far as to say mint condition?

A superb ice install, perfect condition body, and an excellent supercharged VR - reciepts for more than 3x the price of the car!!

Well I've just had a look at Tom's VR...and well......I think that 8.5 would be money very very very well spent. The car looks perfect on my screen!!!! :p

I think £9k is a bit much for an L reg model I think it would be worth between £6k and £6.5k if it is in really good condition , but you never know the value is only what somebody is willing to pay for it and you might be lucky and find someone that would apreciate a low mileage car in good condition and with low mileage and owners. That my 2p's worth anyway

If you have £9 buy a Storm (mystic blue) that's not been modified. That way you'll have a classic that'll depreciate less than the rest, will have a few extra toys (look out for air con) and as with all VR6's will be great to drive.

even £9k-£10k these days is a bit optimistic for a storm, unless its a mega-lo-miler......under 30k miles....also storms do not come with Air/Con as standard it was a dealer fit option.....believe me the storm is actually only a leathered up vr6 from new with a colour-coded grille and solitude alloys which are all easy enough to add to a standard vr6......and of course those rare badges.........i consider mine to be in good(though not A1)condition,all mine is really needing is a few minor bits of paint(stone chips and minor scratches) and the solitudes refurbishing(£1k in total paint+wheels)to be classed as immaculate if i did all that i wouldn't think of asking more than £8.5k and thats with 53k miles 1 previous owner and fvwsh....so £9k for a 94 m-plate(without leather too) is way ott imo

I paid £5K for my 73,000 mile 94 VR6. It too has Full VAG history and 2 previous owners. It was bought from a dealer aswell, so 9K is way way too much. I'd be very surprised if you sell it at that price. Stranger things have happened, so good luck!

imo your bro will be lucky to get even £8k for it............vr6's and all corrado's in general are falling price wise.......at the end of the day the youngest possible corrado that you'll find will be a 96P-plate(they do exist btw)so 7 years old

if i were you i would offer him £7k and see how he reacts then wait to see if he can sell it for more

also most insurance companies won't insure vr6's unless they have a cat1 alarm fitted so thats not really an extra that should be counted as it would be unsaleable if it didn't have it fitted

Thanx for the comments guys..

Seems like a bit of haggling is to be done then.. :? Should be interesting!!

One Problem i can see is that of the other mods. I know that this does not add to the market value of the car, but to me it does... My bro knows ill lower it/ rim it up anyway, so i rekon that may keep the price slightly higher in his eyes??.

He also knows that i want the car, which doesnt work in my favour when it comes to money talk!

From what you have said tho , 9K does seem a little optimistic, even taking into account the mods and the fact he knows i want them...

Difficult situation, as it aint worth getting arsy over, not when it comes to family anyway - see how it goes..

come the time ill prob whack another post up, and show it him as evidence, get some examples etc... cant hurt now can it

Thanx again guys

just purchased a black M (1995) vr6. 93K and in good condition. Only worries are the front has a couple of stone chips and as per the interior needs some attention. Serviced every time by VW except for the final one (Kwik Fit Hometune).

Bought from my uncle who got a new TT (225 in Java Green, very nice!)

He did me a very good deal and I paid less than four for mine but up here in Scotland you see them advertised for much more. Eg 1.8 in red with 102K for 3,300 and a N plate Storm with 50K for £10,000 (last weeks autotrader)

what do you think

Hmm, thanks for your input mate - sounds like you did get a good deal!!

My mate just bought a K reg VR6 with 86K miles - had a new lump from VW at 30 K under warranty, si in effect the engine has done 56K, although the car istelf has done 86.

He Paid £4K exactly - good deal as it was up for £4700.

Thing is tho, it does have bits of rust starting (worming under the paint) on hte rear arches, and it has several dents, chips and a scratch or two.

Overalll it is tidy tho, and id be happy to pay £4k for it.

My bros is immaculate in comparason. The question is, is it and the mods worth 5K more than my mates?

You have to take into account the miles aswell tho.... Difficult one to think about here.

See where im going tho guys, is it worth paing slightly over the odds for a Mint VR6, with lowe miles... sure it doesnt have leather, but the cloith trim is factory condition - the car really is immaculate.

Im thinking that it is worth a bit extra, along with the fact that i know the full history of the car, from new. i know its been looked after, serviced and treated well. That in my opinion is worth a bit extra.....

good points. If you do want a real minter then perhaps you need to pay through the teeth for it! The condition of you brothers ie a couple of dents and a small bubble on the back arch sounds familiar!!

To get away from this you need to spend more!

Well mine is a 1993 Corrado VR6 in Aqua Blue and bought it with 95k miles, 1 lady owner and FSH.. most of it VW / Specialist .... those of you that have seen pics will know its very tidy... to make concours would need to spend £500 on having some chips and scratches done...

It cost me £3600 in October.

don't get me wrong stevebi also agree that you have to pay more for minters but....£9k for an immaculate low mile vr6 is unrealistic.......bear in mind average condition vr6's can be had for under £5k and if you check on the topic "vr6 for sale in aberdeen"you'll see that there is a just under 100k miler for £4700,this car is pretty close to being in mint condition and has had a full engine rebuild this year too plus it has good condition leather interior

if your brother thinks he can get £9k for his then let him try.......imo he'll still have it for sale months later,as i've said before i wouldn't even think of asking £9k for my 53k mile storm(after getting some very minor paintwork and alloys refurbed to make mine immaculate/A1),at the end of the day its your cash if you want to spend £9k on it then do...........but you'll be paying well over the odds

VR6Storm - thanks for you comments. I agree with you, im trying to gauge the value for corrados at the moment, and all your comments are helping!

I dont want to pay 9K - the less the better, obviously!!

I think come the time ill put these points to him and go from there. At the end of the day im willing to pay more for it coz its exactly what i want - but if 9K seems too much then ill have to sort a more realistic price it seems...

Thanks again, oh and i got some pics so ill post them in a day or two..

So does he actually want/need to sell it, or is he only selling it because you are going to pay £9k?

I still think that about £7.5k is about the tops I would go on it.

Steve B, IMO your brother is having a laugh. There is no way he will get 9k for it.He now has an interested party without having to advertise apparently willing to give him 9K.

In saying that,it is the same with selling anything you only need one person willing to give you the asking price. It`s up to you it`s your cash. :)
