What daily driver?

have about £4,500 to spend on a daily drive so that I can retire the C to the garage not to be seen again.... Apart from sunny weekends of course...

 

So, question is... What should I get?

 

requirements:

 

1./ Do not want anything sporty (have a car for fun already :D )

2./ Want something comfortable... getting older and can't take the bumps anymore :)

3./ Have LOADS of kids (4 boys) so need something that can fit me + 4 others (1 in front 3 in back is fine - if the whole family goes out we take the wifes 7 seater anyway)

4./ Drive a fair amount of miles so it does need to be able to chew through motorway miles.

 

My thoughts thus far have been:

 

BMW 5 Series (older car for this money but still seem good)

Mondeo - Not sure I can stand the excitement

Vectra - No

 

So, any other sugges6tions?

If you still want to enjoy your driving and want something that is good value etc etc then you can't go far wrong with a Focus or Mondeo

AS much as I hate to admit it -my company focus is still fun to drive - even though it is a 1.6L "Econetic" !

I have a 2002 Audi A4 sport tdi saloon. Can't recommend it enough - Same 130bhp engine as the golf but nice sized saloon with a huge boot and a lovely interior. It easily manages over 50 MPG on a run and is still fairly brisk.

 

You should be able to get one with under 100k on the clock for your budget or for about 500 less a more or less identical passat tdi sport. I went for the Audi as its just got a bit more class and all the cabbies drive passats in Brum.

Out of these, you'll defo get more value with the Octy.

Exactly, my daily driver is a VR6 Corrado...lol! The Golf stays in the drive.

gonna also say a skoda, a 5 series estate for about 4.5k WILL cost you in spares. I really do miss my old skoda it was practical/comfy/bigger inside than a 5 series.

 

mondeo's are good but very very boring.

I was gonna buy an 8V Rado as a daily, but thought that my toy is my Rado, so having one as a daily would spoil it for me!!!

 

I think it's awesome having 2 classic 90's Vw's on my drive!!!!
