dragon green 5 Posted February 21, 2010 Where is the Amp output marked on the alternator ? Mines a Bosch, but without taking it off,is there another way of finding out ? Reason for asking,i should have my heated leather working this week, and suddenly thought is my alternator 65 amp or 90 amp. Thanks in advance
Jon_vr6 1 Posted February 21, 2010 If you get a torch out you should be able to see a sticker on top of it with the info needed
dragon green 5 Posted February 23, 2010 I have a 65amp alternator,(thanks jon)i need a 90amp one,do i need one specific to the 9a engine ? Or will one fit from another model Corrado, golf, passat . Thanks
davidwort 0 Posted February 23, 2010 88-92 passat 16v alternator is the same, golf mk2 16v ones are all 65amp and later VW's use different alternators. 8v alternators have a different casing/mounting although the internals are the same.
dragon green 5 Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks David, did they fit 90amp ones to the 88-92 Passats ? Or have i got to go custom, like Brise ? Cheers Edit- just found some 90amp passat ones on e-bay
colinstubbs 0 Posted February 23, 2010 I was gonna say I just ordered a 90amp alternator through B&B Components in Maidstone and all I had to do was swap the pulley.
