Mawrick 0 Posted December 21, 2010 Not sure if you could vag-com it?..... Also here is some general info about it: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.p ... -2591.html Personal experience (from a tip I found online from a O2 sensor maker - but can't find it again): Try to get the car hot - take it for a "hard" ride, then stop and rev engine to about 3000 rpm's for roughly 1 minute, and then slowly take it down to idle and let it idle for some time. (might have to clear errors with VAG-com now). If the sensor is dirty this is supposed to be able to "burn" off the residue that's on the sensor. I tried this on my VR6 Passat - which had a error with the O2 sensor (confirmed with VAG-COM, and tried to clear it several times prior to this), also it failed MOT due to this, after I did the procedure above, cleared it with VAG-COM and started again it was all gone. Now 3 or 4 years later, the same sensor is in the car, and haven't thrown any errors since then :) At least worth a try :)
davidwort 0 Posted December 21, 2010 you should be able to pick up a new bosch sensor for somewhere between 35-50 quid, and if the old one's got over 100K on it I doubt whether it's ever going to be revived once the metals inside it are contaminated. Best thing to do is take it to an MOT tester and get them to run the MOT emissions test, both emissions and lambda value will be given and if the lambda wavers about, even if the emissions are at a level that would pass an MOT, I doubt whether anything other than a new sensor will cure it.
