ABS Control unit

Recommended Posts

I have had to disconnect my ABS as it was cutting in every time I braked.

The problem has been traced to a faulty ABS unit, although this was sent away before for testing to be told it is working perfectly.

It looks like I need a new ABS ECU at great expense. Has anyone purchased one recently or got any other solutions?

The car is a '95 2.0 16v with £90k on the clock and I have owned it for almost 10 years!

If the ABS is cutting in then that sounds like the problem i had when two of the sensors at the wheels had gone, replaced and job was a goodun. Also worth a try cleaning them up first and checking the rotors

Thanks for replies.

Sensors have been checked and the electrics followed through to the ABS ECU.

Do you know what model and year the ABS ECU is? I bet they changed regularly and were different for VR6 than 16v.

Is that a list of the cars you own now or have owned??!!

Its of another bordeaux rolling shell I had bought for the engine it was a 93 VR6 if remember correctly.

I can get you the part number if you want it as its just in the loft.

The list is the current list of cars as stupidly have 3 VR6s one will be going soon though and more tan likely the sherry as the blackberry is looking to good to break.

OK, the 16v '95 9A is going to be nearer than the VR6 one.

Any clues as to where its located in the car? I'll check out the part no.

thanks both.

HI bud its next to the left foot of the passenger is the easiest way to explain it just infront of the door behind the panel held on by 2 screws

So they different then just checked mine and its 1HO 907 379C so prob no good

According to Etka, there are two versions of the ABS ECU for the 95 model year cars with RHD.

1H0 907 379 C was superseeded on the 31/10/93 by 1H0 907 379 E which has electronic differential lock (EDL)

1HO 907 379 D did not have of EDL

You probably need the C or E suffix model

The list price of a new ECU 2-3 years ago was around £700

I got one too, no idea what its off part number is 1HO 907 379, no letter on the end like the other 2.

This version was superseeded by suffix B and then by suffix D both of which didn't have EDL so probably the wrong version.
