Looks good....when you say you plugged the engine loom into the fusebox, I presume it was a CE2 QPeng loom or similar?

I've gone OEM using an ECU from an AGU.

Had it all running in my mk1 before the change of plans and as the mk1 is converted to use a corrado dash and fusebox it all plugs into this car without to much hassle.

what are the advantages of a mk4 expansion tank?

The top comes of easier

Havent updated for a while, got engine harness finished and started the engine, need to clean the slam panel, finish the front lighting wiring, put the driveshafts, suspension and brakes on, finish the pipework for the cooler and fit the bumper.

Been a while since I updated this and it looks like not alot of progress but it not far of being road worthy now.

Brakes fitted

52653068494_8b16234e03_z.jpg

still need to bleed them as I sheered of a bleed nipple, grrr

Got the front mostly back together

52652795276_e0bc0e6892_z.jpg

Just needs the spoiler fitting and of corse the bonnet spraying

All turbo/intercooler pipes are now fitted to the engine and had a turbo in pipe adaptor made so I can run a 70mm hose from the filter to the maf and to the turbo

52652304182_42f02ff40a_z.jpg

Got some different wheels for it as well

52653234330_9c7a1df674_z.jpg

am thinking they will look good in white

Now changing the cluster for a late one so the tacho works, just need to change the wiring for the indicators and the low coolent light

hopefully it will be back on the ground this weekend so I can get it on the drive and put the Recaros in.

Will be good to drive it but then I still have a long list to improve it.

Finally got it out of the garage and although a little naughty, I did run it up the road and back to find it only had 5 psi.

52652795236_cdeb1fb097_z.jpg

looks like the lack of psi was down to a faulty maf which showed up as a fault code from the ECU, hopefully it will boost a bit better now

Not much left to make it road worthy

Been a while since I updated this and it doesnt seem that I'm that much further forward, just as I think its almost ready to hit the road I find or decide to do something else..

So I got it out of the garage,

52653234265_96e8eef11f_z.jpg

then decided to have a play with the sunroof and roof lining

stripped the old lining and recovered it with a fake alcontara

52653278593_9772e46db0_z.jpg

52653068449_30ecb3d22d_z.jpg

also covered the inside of the sunroof

Bought some more goodies

52653068429_aaf0f0345f_z.jpg

the brembo's are from a renault clio 197/megane 225 and were different colours so I got them cheap at £100, the coilovers are a bit knackered (that will teach me to take the word of someone saying they were good. The turbo is a K03s which will get fitted when the engines run in a bit.

Fitted my boost gauge and a OBD2 port

52652795151_8030ce698a_z.jpg

52652795121_ec421382e0_z.jpg

Fitted an electronic tailgate release using a passat boot lock solonoid and then fitted a smooth rear plate mount

52652795101_6e931fecff_z.jpg

I'm currently waiting for a guy at work to draw up and FEA some caliper brackets but while I wait I decided to fab up some of my own

52653234180_312e71cfe7_z.jpg

They seem to fit ok

52653068399_26698a8fd7_z.jpg

I've now painted the calipers and put some new stickers on

52653278533_7f4027e8e8_z.jpg

Then while this has been going on I've also been smoothing the front bumper

52653278513_7fa5e77dcb_z.jpg

got it filled now and just want to be happy with the fiinish before spraying it

Today I had a go at the dent in the wing

Before

52652304052_11617417ca_z.jpg

After

52653068379_9295755885_z.jpg

Thats it for now

Put a couple of covers over the engine and rad so it looks a bit neater

52652795346_da957bda55_z.jpg

And I finished the bumper so had a go at spraying it,

Hasn't come out to bad, got a couple of flys stuck in it though 😞

But it is on now and will do till I can improve my spraying or get the whole car sprayed

52653234140_7c093b7aec_z.jpg

52653234390_6d34b3b5ab_z.jpg

Just need to fit my LEDs in the headlights for indicators, re-bleed the brakes, tidy a couple of filled areas of bodywork and put the carpet back down in the passenger side and its MOT time

Those coilovers don't look too bad mate, just need a clean.

The cars looking good though, I like the smoothed bumper! Would be interested in a bit more detail about the boot popper as well.

For anyone that wants to do this conversion, head along to the Qpeng website. The guide on there is fantastic.

Although its a daunting task for the inexperienced, it's not impossible.

I just go by the thinking of what's the worst that can happen?
