you got the right idea but i recommend not using spray paint as a guide coat , instead when sanding filler or primer use a powder guide coat, 3M and indasa do them which you just rub/wipe on and then sand off until its all flat to appropriate grit, dont have to wait for it to dry , doesnt gum up sand paper and you dont get over spray on other areas , once its flat and all the guide coats gone you then get a panel wipe cloth saturated in panel wipe and give the area a wet down to simulate a glossy clear coat and look at the angles checking for minor lows and highs that might need working, are you going to give it to a bodyshop to finish off or you going to try and diy it?

Thanks, I'll get some ordered

Wicked thread, just read from start to finish. Top work.

Been out buying some parts today

TT seats

IMG_1272_zpsmdd5fvgn.jpgIMG_1274_zpsj4eqas5t.jpg

With the adaptors for the runners already made and fitted

IMG_1273_zpsbrrf3jrq.jpg

Black dash

IMG_1270_zpsi93faivj.jpg

And another bumper but with nearly new grill and 90mm splitter

IMG_1271_zpsjeyuv0jl.jpg

That means I now have 2 splitters, both have a crack in the left corner and a grey dash, that I no longer need

Fitted the TT seats today, luckily the hard part of making the plates to sit in the original runners had been done already so it was a simple case of drilling some holes.

Decided to remove the original front runner

IMG_1276_zpsoo6kergi.jpg

No going back now

Drilled the holes and welded the nuts in place

then bolt in place :)

repeat for the other side

Now just need to make a spacer for the tunnel side of the seat and it'll be that job done

Yeah, the gas strut has been removed so the back only tilts forward a little and not the whole seat.

Sean, the seats do feel heavier but they are more sturdy and have the airbags

Decided I wasnt happy with the smoothing of the rear so I dug it all out re-did it

And have been rubbing the paint back getting ready to spray. Did the drivers side then started the inside of the boot.

Managed to get this sticker off without tearing it

but whilst rubbing back the paint in the boot, what I thought was a bit of surface rust turned out to be a hole :(

Impressed you got the sticker off, but gutted about the extra hole. Good job none the less.

Hole fixed :)

Had to remove the tank as it was a little close to where I was welding

As recommended, got some Gravitex from ebay, as it gives the same effect on the sills as VW put on there.

Decided to put some on the panel behind the rear bumper aswell

IMG_1424_zpsaszhdbt4.jpg

rubbed the paint back so it could be sprayed

Not the best pictures but:

One of the runs in the paint from yesterday

IMG_1433_zpsdjq75gqf.jpg

So today I rubbed it all flat again and had another go at spraying, luckely it went a bit better.

I put on 5 coats in total so I can flat it back to remove any imperfections and the areas or orange peel
