captainredeye 0 Posted March 24, 2012 I have just had a pair of calipers returned from shot blasting, now it appears they were not masked properly and the piston chamber has been blasted with sand. Are these calipers still safe to use?could i get away with just using very fine grit paper to hone the chamber or are they now junk, if so i wont be recommending a certain shot blasting firm in Melksham. daves16v 1 Posted March 25, 2012 The piston to chamber clearance is not critical, there is a small amount of clearance between the two, it's the rubber seal that does all the work, I would say it's ok but make sure you wash out the blast media thoroughly. captainredeye 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Cheers guys. The surface close to the end of the chamber has been roughed up I will be using some fine grit paper 2500 so that should hone it ok. Have been told the seal does most of the work so I will give them a go . Going to use them and will put in my thread how they work out. Cheers Ben
