'Rado_TDI 10 Posted February 15, 2016 Thanks Fla, means a lot! Last one and we are up to date! I did seem to end up with a load of crud in the paint :bh dunno where it came from! Should polish out OK. Opened up the garage doors for a quick look yesterday - well pleased with the colour, but too scared to start looking for runs and thin bits. The colour is amazing in the sun, well except where my errors are :( pleased to say my extraction worked very well too except.... I got it in the neck :D Well happy! Wanna go put it back together, just need to sit tight for a few days and let it harden properly. -5 yesterday, and -3 this morning :(

'Rado_TDI 10 Posted March 1, 2016 Hmmm, not really got much to update you on. I've been trying to finish off my paint which is a bit boring, and also was a bit distracted by a new engine for my MK1... LOLZ getting there.... slowly.... had I not bummed it, blasted sand though it and then ****ed it with a polisher - I would have been really proud of my painting! I only have one run on the whole motor - on the number plate light cover! Anyway - only the wings left to polish... it's a long way from perfect but I'm happy enough and a wee jiz of stone chip in the rear arches
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted March 10, 2016 couple of snaps from the weekend... "stuff" Expensive trip to VW... actually an all out expensive weekend :( Actutally this clutch master machine - #358721388 he commented was a Seat part - so maybe if anybody is looking for one Seat might be cheaper / easier to get a hold of them Got some bits powdercoated - which is nice, unfortunately I didn't use my usual guy coz he's a bit far away. When I explained that I didn't want any powder coat on the bearing machine part, I was pleased that he seemed to understand and also commented that the bolts were there to help masking and the threads wouldn't have any powder coat on them... but alas, the usual scottish standard applies... Not sure where this has come from, it was fine... think maybe I got my calipers confused in my pile - which probably means there are some nice unseized calipers in a landfill site in west lothian :( got most of my rear end on - except for brake lines and a little fun last night
mort1414 0 Posted March 10, 2016 Great thread inspiring me to sort my paint out. thanks
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted March 11, 2016 Thank you. lol just make sure you paint every where - not most places like I did :D
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted March 17, 2016 ahhhh glorious press to be honest I did expect these to be a colostomy of mis-matching not quite fittingness - after a lad I know moaned about it, but it turns out he's a poof. Quite pleased with that. Now's on to the re plumbing job....... now where did I put my flaring tool. Need to ponder some new flexi hoses too
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted March 30, 2016 So the second nicest feeling mod I have ever done to the car..... after skimming off the brake fluid.... This..... what ever it is, hp sauce maybe, came out, pleased that there were no gears, or shrapnel or anything nasty :) I tried to get it all by tipping the box about and blowing in air and stuff, but that was reasonably un-successful, so I flushed a bit with some cheap gear oil Followed by 2 litres of this and oh my, what a difference :) and the rear made it to the ground! sexybourbon 0 Posted March 30, 2016 Nice work mate that last pic looks spot on
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted April 26, 2016 Thanks you sexy Bourbon. Always prefered custrad creams my self :) uuugh hours and hours of ****ing about with my sub box and this is how far I am. measured, cut and tested, perfect fit measured, cut and tested, perfect fit measured, cut and tested, perfect fit measured, cut and tested, perfect fit measured, cut and tested, perfect fit glued and tested, no fit. *******. so then spend hours hacking bits off it to get it in as I had used the left over tube of p/u window sealant to glue it so it wasn't going to come apart again!! didn't think there was a ot of point in adding new speakers to the back - they sounded crap but they are un-amped. But i took the cover off to see where teh sub box was going to hit them and found a bit of a cone issue! so they have been replaced. I was attempting to just buy a servo that would fit, because that's what normal people do, but I was getting antsy so I got a mk3 one and modded it After I took out the old servo it made it easy to get in about the rear engine mount so I took that out for a look ahhhh ooooooh So that's all engine mounts replaced courtesy of febi. Also did the little rubber bushes in the front cross member - that was a pita job! and replaced some of my vacuum/boost hoses When I asked for the connector to be included in my "new" diesel sender, the doofus snipped the wires off with 0.00000001mm spare cable, but luckily I found a MK4 wiper plug from the loom I saved in the loft fitted - So that's another wee job ticked off! What feels like months has got to here..... Cack handed awkwardly shaped mofo. I had a can of grey stripe that I wasnt really too impressed with so I caked it onto the seams to ensure air tightness. oh and the black **** was left over window sealant :) of course using my blue recycling workbench as a spray glue stand :D and the other side so the whole lot should all 'clip' together like.... cheap nasty hardware and all in :) just need to wire it up now and start rattle testing (bang)
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted April 26, 2016 Nothing much else going on here I was waiting on some 3.5mm vacuum hose, so I ordered from Auto silicon hoses, and about 3 weeks later it finaly showed up - in a package labeled urgent! jokers So that job meant I could reattach the servo and brand new master cylinders (25mm brake) which meant I could attach me front flexis - I went for a febi 34055, though, I found the banjo bolt the wrong thread, go got a couple of M10x1.0 but apart from that nothing really wish i could just find the time to complete! 'Rado_TDI 10 Posted May 16, 2016 been fiddling away, nothing much of interest... Drained and replenished the PAS fluid.... Re lined the doors and token sound deading More wood work to laugh at! Molested door card I was having a bit of a drippng oil problem - think this was the culprit, got a replacement one for £15 :) New filter and silly plastic valve of agony Final bush job was a pain in the bumholeo, but now aaaaalll of them have been done! :) Then I bled my brakes and the ****ting bleed nipple snapped in a rear caliper, so that led to much upset :bh so been for a 20m drive.... eveything sort of opertated :thumbs_up been having a bit of a strange issue with it not reving right - no fault codes though so need to look into that I guess. Feels like it has a blockage somewhere as its un responsive and wheeezy, but still seems to be boosting - so much so that it popped open a boost hose! I'm wondering if the EGR or inlet manifold is clogged up, not sure how it could be.... :bh
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted June 2, 2016 not been up to too much - been a bit busy :( 130,000 miles of built up EGR ****e. Initially started with a screw driver, before resorting to 1/2 a jamjar of gun wash then some mr muscle The stuff is horrendous. manky crusty thick black goop. and to hopefully stop the egr doing it again, I'm contemplating blocking it off with a bit of MK4 bonnet cut to match the gasket - apparently this mod helps fuel economy too.... just doing totally exciting stuff like loosing my clutch pedal clip somewhere under the dash and spending 2h looking for it.... oh and repairing more cracked 20yo plastic bits.... and lots of screwing of dash bits (aka cracked 20yo plastics) :D Hemorrhaging money now.... :bonk: new glass and new rear calipers (bang) Thinking about selling it when it's done as I fancy something else.... anyone interested? :)
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted June 13, 2016 So a couple of little jobs complete now.... Ugly bastid New to do includes: - rebuild drivers mirror - add indicators - add seal to wings - add door cards and roof trim - might retrim my headliner as it's a bit dirty MOT....? owenfishburn 10 Posted June 19, 2016 After all this work your selling. What sort of cash you looking for. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
'Rado_TDI 10 Posted June 20, 2016 Dunno - ropey old sheds seem to be about £2-2.5k, Minters seem to be £5-7k Mine is 100% refreshed everywhere, all bearing all bushes etc, very very clean shell, but ruined by a smelly oilburner (tee hee) so maybe circa £3600 no brembos, £4000 with.
