Heater fan stopped working

Recommended Posts

Hi...as it says the blower is not working on any speed. I think it stopped yesterday, what I mean is that I set it at 2 and leave it. But since it was particularly hot yesterday - even in Scotland - I put it up to 4, then realised a little later that it wasn't doing anything.

If it was working on 4, I'd assume it was the resistor, but with nothing happening is that more likely the fan motor itself. I've checked the fuse and that is good.

Thanks

D

May be an idea to change the fuse anyway. You can get hairline cracks in fuses that you can't always see. Do you get any voltage at the fan plug?

I took it out of the car and after much testing it was dead, however I dismantled it, took the brushes out and cleaned the commutator. Once I'd reassembled it, it worked fine.

So pleased about that. The Stealers had quoted me £300...

try taking an aircon fan out - nightmare!

Glad you got it sorted. I'm sure you did, but if not, it would have been a good idea to clean the armature shaft and lube it well where is sits in the bronze bushes (I've used grease on the commentator end)
