Roger Chatfield 0 Posted December 16, 2013 Evening chums, as some of you know the oil temp on my mfa is reading high so I'm thinking I probably need a new sender. So, where is best place to buy one, also does anyone know the part number. Many thanks, Rog.
GlosterOx 0 Posted December 16, 2013 Mines stopped reading completely now Roger, where is it situated so I can check it? Ian.
Wompa 0 Posted December 16, 2013 The sender is lockated on the oil filter house. There is two pressure sensors and one temp sender. A new one cost around 20 at VW. https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTMS1UV4JJqOI6R3q694HbTa1JfPXg1S_-n9o_5UG6MkXB7ivrm

Jim 2 Posted December 16, 2013 Just order from Volkswagen themselves. I'd be surprised if this is an obsolete part yet - I recently ordered both the high and low pressure senders from Volkswagen which sit in front of the oil temperature sensor on the oil filter housing. Be warned - you're in for some fun getting to it, and swapping it as access is extremely limited :)

Goldie 2 Posted December 17, 2013 Still available from the dealer… I did this recently but had the hole filter housing off.. Access was a combination of from underneath, down behind the radiator and through the drivers side headlight..

I also found out recently that if you undo the front engine mount and jack the front of the engine up access becomes much easier.
Roger Chatfield 0 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Thanks for all the info chaps, I've just ordered one from VW heritage using the part number quoted, I'll let you know how I get on. Rog. Edited December 18, 2013 by Roger Chatfield
buttles 0 Posted December 19, 2013 Have you checked the condition of the connector on it? The electrical connectors have no rubber boot like the pressure sensors and corrode.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted January 7, 2014 yep, the wire at oil end just snaps off, seen a few do it now. Quite easy to solder back together though.
