Erallus 10 Posted July 2, 2014 Hi all, I'm looking to refurbish my rear breaks, including calipers as they look a little rusty and are starting to squeak. Does anyone have a caliper wind back tool they use or favor, I've looked at a few, some people seem to just use a G clamp instead (looking at u tube video's). This one seems to be okay: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-1314-Caliper-Piston-Re-wind/dp/B002V72SHS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_diy_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1R0KQJ7XDQHTZE5JDPZ9 Any advice would be great. marks2 0 Posted July 2, 2014 I've been using that one for years on all of my VW's and Audi's. I've got no complaints. Great tool and a good price.

swiftkid 1 Posted July 2, 2014 Think halfords are the laser ones! But that's what I use as well and does the job nicely.

davidwort 0 Posted July 2, 2014 It works ok but I find the plate on that one isn't quite right for the rear calipers
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted July 2, 2014 I've tried that one, worked fine for the front brakes on my Corrado and MK4 Golf. However I tried it on the rear calipers of the Golf, and the piston would not wind back.. Ended up breaking the tool, and it's replacement... Annoying, seeing as Halfords one I had to buy cost £30!! Had to take the caliper off the car, put it on a bench and put force on the piston whilst winding it with a socket extension attached to the circular disc from the windback tool. The same tool can be bought off ebay for about £8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAKE-CALIPER-REWIND-WIND-BACK-TOOL-R-H-THREAD-VW-AUDI-SKODA-SEAT-NEW-/310507201064
