Blounter 10 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Got MK4 GTi calipers and carriers for my 288mm conversion and presumed I could use the discs also, but reading various posts on here I believe thats a no no? Just laid one flat side by side with my VR6 280 disc and the 288 sits higher so the offset is obviously larger. Are the options late MK3 GTi and late Golf VR6 yeah………? seanl82 23 Posted August 15, 2014 The 288s JUST fit under the standard 15" wheels. Have a look in the wiki section on the brake upgrade thread, it'll tell you exactly what you need.
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted August 15, 2014 Late mk3 gti or vr6 discs and then mk4 or mk3 pads along with carriers and calipers.

Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 16, 2014 Are mk4 front calipers the same as the mk3 ones then?
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted August 16, 2014 Yeah. There was a variation between hose connections but the vast majority were banjo fitment.
seanl82 23 Posted August 16, 2014 Physically the same, but the thread pitch on the banjo is a different size. 1mm for mk 4, 1.5mm for mk3 iirc.
