Grum 0 Posted October 24, 2014 Hi guys, after wanting one for nearly 10years finally bought a VR a few months ago, absolutely loving it. The wife hates it lol she says it's too slow in 1st! It's bog standard with slightly faded paint work, so no need to post pics of it! I'm looking for help finding the heater control cable, the one with 2 round ends, I've forgot the part no. My mechanics stripped out everything then discovered I bought the wrong part, oops. Also having trouble getting it into 5th when cold but goes in fine when fully warmed up. Is it Just an adjustment to selector tower or more expensive fault? Cheers guys

Grum 0 Posted October 24, 2014 Yea they're slowly but surely popping up more and more in glasgow, never a bad thing! She also thought our old 100hp tdi bora was fast in 1st gear, probably smokes crack in her spare time.

science 0 Posted October 25, 2014 Also having trouble getting it into 5th when cold but goes in fine when fully warmed up. Is it Just an adjustment to selector tower or more expensive fault? Welcome, there is adjustment under the shift boot in the car and also on cable end at the gearbox. I think the cable adjustment you need is bolt c in the car or bolt b under the bonnet, best mark the position before adjustment. Grum 0 Posted October 25, 2014 Cheers science, had a feeling it was just a case of adjusting bolts.
