Do you really need a little light to tell you when you're going to get stuck? The needle is usually sat back down in the place it started from! :D

i think its cos Im used to gauging petrol consumption using the trip counter.

when red light comes on reset counter. stick in £20 and see when light comes on again. Thats the miles to £20.

got a trip computer now tho ;)

lol, fair dues, but you could always use say, the start of the red low level warning bit, and pretend it was a light if the trip doesnt work out for ya ;)

Trouble is the guage on the corrado is not exactly accurate!! - hence a fuel light would be a good idea.... my Pug has one and I wait until its on solid then fill up again.

I just zero the trip counter every time I fill up... I then know that I've got around 360 miles until I need to get some more petrol, or about 380 until I REALLY need some! ;)

LOL na she got there coz she wanted to be at INTERS and when i filled her back up with optimax she cost me £65.00 right where it hurt

All you need to know is you've got 10 litres when the needle hits the white line just before the red. So that's 8 miles for the VR and 80 miles for the G60/16V

Petrol lights are for idiots that have no clue about cars.

I hear you re: £65 Chris. I just give up at £50 these days and it's still not full! Besides, you really do feel that extra weight, so better off half filling it really.

Your unplanned detour via Gatwick might have contributed as well mate .....

... unless you've had your fuel pump replaced a muppet, in which case you still have 12 litres left even when you get down past the red..!!! :(

VW are not the fastest adopters of new technology: the lights-on buzzer and the fuel-low warning lights were very late additions to the range.

my fuel gauge is seriously annoying. it will do about 250 miles when it reaches the halfway mark!!! Then, it drops to empty in about 50 miles!!
