delfinis38 1 Posted December 8, 2014 Ah yeah I kept meaning to go, sorry! I was gonna go the weekend I bought the Aqua parts car, but forgot due to this. If I'd known this was the one you were looking at, I'd have gladly come along for moral support and to give you a hand looking over it. Sounds like a good un though and look forward to seeing a gallery thread! :thumbleft: And we thought you were going to part x your green baby for it :)
Chuggs1 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Thanks Sean - well time will tell. They made a profit on their £4k from ebay but no where near what they would have at nearly £10K asking price. Put it this way I don't feel cheated!
seanl82 23 Posted December 8, 2014 And we thought you were going to part x your green baby for it :) Not a chance mate, I'm confident mine is almost as good as a low miler with the time effort and money I've lavished on it this year! Chuggs, good to hear mate. There seem to be a lot of dealers buying decent ones and then advertising them a couple of weeks later after a quick wash and with a load of detailed photos for much inflated prices. Glad your happy with what you've got!
Chuggs1 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Although getting a low mileage one was not a priority for me its certainly a bonus especially with a fairly decent history that seems to prove the mileage - not a huge number around with this low a mileage I would have thought! Just need to do her justice now and look after her
Chuggs1 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Out of interest what the thoughts on service history going forward - should I have it serviced by VW or is a good independent "good enough"? Cheers
seanl82 23 Posted December 8, 2014 I think a good independent would be better than most dealerships nowadays, provided they use genuine parts. The old boys at these independent specialist garages tend to know what they're looking at too. A lot of skill fade at dealerships where they're used to plugging in a diagnostic socket to tell them exactly what a problem is.
Chuggs1 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Thanks Sean to be honest that was my feelings too but just wanted to get some 2nd opinions. Next challenge - find a good (and honest) independent. That's probably unfair I know a couple.

A few of us on here had a chuckle about the dealers add. Your in the right place to ask any questions... Welcome to the forum. Its not the same car, this one was on Autotrader with a £10k price tag

Chuggs1 10 Posted December 8, 2014 So was this originally someones car from this forum? Be nice to know a bit more about the history.
Hairyarse 10 Posted December 8, 2014 Nice buy Chuggs, that looks great ;) I agree with the indy garage if you're not doing work yourself. I looked in to using my local VW dealer on a MK1 Golf purely to maintain the fully stamped history it came with. However, when I got their prices and realised how little they did on the car I just couldn't bring myself to do it, so serviced it myself in the end. delfinis38 1 Posted December 9, 2014 So was this originally someones car from this forum? Be nice to know a bit more about the history. No not a forum car as I'm aware. Re servicing.... My VR is a one owner with 40k on the clock. I do most of the easy servicing my self using VAG parts or the best parts I can find if they are obsolete. Every thing else ie big jobs I have done by my local vw independant. I keep a record of parts problems service, bit like a diary. And have every mot tax disc and recipe from day one. If your new to corrado and vw ownership. Dealers still stock some parts, failing that vw heritage or vw classic parts and vw spares online are great for aftermarket parts. BLCSO 0 Posted April 10, 2015 ....... have only seen one other Corrado in my home town of Swindon although im sure there are others hiding away - already getting a great reaction from people! You may well have seen my brother round Swindon, he has got a couple of Blackberries one of which he has owned for the last 16 years - ozowen on here. LancasterStorm 10 Posted April 21, 2015 It's amazing once you buy one how many you see, I'd not seen another Corrado round Lancaster for years, turns out there's about 4 I see regularly now. Maybe I just wasn't looking properly! Unfortunately there's a blue none storm tearing about round Lancaster a night time "cruising" and drag racing round the one way system. I think people think it's me when I drive through as I get boy racers wanting to have a go. Fortunately I'm above all that! :smug:
Chuggs1 10 Posted April 21, 2015 Still not seen another in Swindon yet but sure I will bump into ozowen at some point ... It's too small a town not to. Still loving my purchase and still loving the VR6. Think I'm addicted lol
zygalski 10 Posted April 21, 2015 So was this originally someones car from this forum? Be nice to know a bit more about the history. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/417442/V888_200315.pdf Just say you're interested in this rare car's history & are a member of an owners club. £5 later you get photocopies of all previous owners V5's & a nice list of names, addresses & dates of ownership. Well worth it.
Chuggs1 10 Posted April 22, 2015 May have to have a go at that be interesting to build up a more detailed history and cant do any harm to the value
