CHRIS KNOTT VIRTUAL SHOW & SHINE - with £100 prize

Here's a chance for members to show off their cars and their photo skills once again as we launch the 2015 Chris Knott Virtual 'SHOW & SHINE' on Social Media. It's been a couple of years since we ran the last one.

There's a PRIZE for the winning entry of a £100 Amazon Voucher and we'll feature the winning photo on all our Social Media in October.

THEME: Car & Summer

HOW TO ENTER

Just post a photo of your car looking all Summery or in a Summer setting on as many of our social media pages as you can (and tag us in the pic).

FACEBOOK - simply post your pic/pics on our page https://www.facebook.com/ChrisKnottIns and tag us in the pic.

TWITTER - tag your post with @ChrisKnottIns and #CKShowShine

GOOGLE+ - tag your post with @ChrisKnottIns

INSTAGRAM - tag ChrisKnottInsurance when you post your pic

We'd also be interested to know which car club/forum you're a member of, so you might like to tell us in your post (not compulsory).

It would be great if you could also LIKE or FOLLOW and SHARE whichever page you're on - and then POST your pic of your car on the page.

The closing date for entries is 30th September 2015 - so just over 2 months for you to get the creative juices flowing and come up with something if you haven't already got an image to post up.

Your car could be stock or modified - there are no restrictions in that regard.

Be inventive. Remember, unlike a traditional Show & Shine, this is a photo comp so we will be looking for the photo that shows off best the combined Car & Summer theme but please keep it clean (the photo)!!

It doesn't have to show the whole of your car - it just needs to have a car in it. Think about location, lighting, angles, etc.

The pic can be anything amateur - an Instagram photo, straight camera-phone pic or something a bit more serious and we're happy if you want to use effects.

The only stipulation is that it must be your own photo and your own car (not an image nicked off the interweb).

Have a look at the photos we've added to our Facebook page and commented on over time to see the sort of images that we've appreciated in the past. We ran the last Virtual Show & Shine back in 2013 on Facebook so maybe have a look at the winning entries again.

We're really looking forward to seeing some new pics as you post them. There's no limit to the number of different photos you can post.

Don't forget, it's LIKE/FOLLOW (if you want to make us happy), SHARE (if you want to help us) and POST (if you want to win).

Thanks and good luck!

best,

Nick

PS. Forum admins, please boost via PM and your own Social Media if you can. Thank you.

Indeed we have pasted it on the forums as we have so many forum partners to alert. Of course, you don't have to take part or even read the post if it offends you. The concept seems popular with car club/forum people as we've already had about 12 entries since this has been up today.

'Can we ban adverts from the Forum?'

Surely advertisers and the revenue they give to the Forum help keep it running ?

As I just posted on MG-Rover.org we do pay to be on the forum by way of commission for any policies sold. But we like to engage with members rather than just advertise our car insurance products which is why we run the show & shine. We want to see your cars.

Can we ban adverts from the forum? they're getting boring! This has just been copy and pasted onto 10000000000000000000 forums, they aren't even bothering to make the posts car specific to the forums any more, may as well call it "please boost our company on social media because we want to benefit from loads of free advertising and only pay at most £70 to amazon" i mean really guys a ****ing £100 amazon voucher! talk about researching your audience! I find that insulting! You couldn't even be bothered to find a decent prize you are just offering a sh*tting voucher.. and for amazon? NOT EVEN EBAY... SERIOUSLY!? I can tel you a good place to put that voucher...

Did you get out of the wrong side of the bed yesterday?

It's a competition. All competitions are really to boost the profile of the company running them - that's why they run them. Marketing 101.

You don't have to enter. You don't have to read this thread.

I run this forum out of my own pocket, and have done for 13 years.

I receive about £10-20 a month in donations. Running the site costs 5 times that. Plus my time, which of course I spend hours working behind the scenes.

I need to use advertising to help pay the way, simply.

CKI are one of the more active advertisers on the site - but a competition with the chance to win £100 in Amazon vouchers (and you don't even have to take out an insurance policy with them) is hardly intrusive. The subject of the thread was pretty obvious what it was about and who was running it.

May I suggest you redirect your trolling to users who don't pay their way to 'keep the forum alive'?

Yes, I did, i ruined my car... and hate insurance companies too, so the 2 went hand in hand, but ive broad shoulders and will apologize to Chris. So i am sorry Chris.

Also more so to you Andi! You do a great job with the forum and it is by far the best forum out there! Sorry man! :(

Andi,

I completely agree with, and respect the time and effort that you put into this forum. I also disagree with the response to this competition that EJ has posted. It may be that you are correct and he has had a bad day and it was a rash post to make.

However, I think many forums, car forums in particular, are starting to look at their users as customers. This is not a good way in my opinion, without users a forum is nothing. I am more than happy to input into a forum with any help or advice I may have. Many individuals on this forum go way above that and offer services for free, they also make donations to keep the forum going.

However, contributing financially is not something I wish to do, but I do recognise that advertising is required for the site to survive, which I am more than comfortable with.

I would be very careful of directing ire at users that do not make financial contribution. The acid test would be to make the forum subscription on registering, I think that would have a massive effect on the amount of users that would have joined. I guess that experiment has already been done with the CCGB forum, so maybe that would be a benchmark on how the forum would be populated.

This is a great forum, if it takes advertising to keep it alive, more power to it.

Just my tuppence

Dougie

Hi folks, we've settled on our winning image for the 2015 Chris Knott Virtual Show & Shine.

Congratulations to José De Bardi for the shot of his Audi S1. We liked the way the car is the main focus but it leads you into the summer landscape.

We'll be contacting him to arrange delivery of his £100 Amazon Voucher shortly.

Well done to all who entered this year - there were some really good images on display. Here's a reminder of the Top 20 entries - apparently you don't need a Facebook account to view them.

And here's a link to José's pic on our Facebook page - WINNING SHOT.

If you like competitions, please remember that if you ask Chris Knotts for a car quote this month you'll be entered for our draw to WIN a Karcher K2 Pressure Washer (including car attachments).

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 (free even from mobiles) - to receive the full benefit please mention this forum when you call.

best,

Nick
