Jim Bowen 1 Posted November 7, 2015 Heater matrix hoses are the wrong way round and looks to me like some kind of repair.
Guest petercabrio Posted November 7, 2015 I thought it was a repair and will it make a difference they being backward, it's a radiator
dr_mat 0 Posted November 9, 2015 I believe they have an embedded bypass valve so yes it could matter that it's the wrong way round.
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted November 9, 2015 whoa boys what car is the OP? it looks like a valver NOT a VR reason I say is that the matrix feed & return hoses come from different places on the 16v to the VR the VR has the feed hose cross over the return hose as per Dox picture on the valver the feed hose comes directly from the right hand side of the engine block & as such the hoses do not cross like they do on the VR I know this as I have recently replaced the matrix on my valver that said - the hose in the OP's pic looks like it needs replacing
Dox 23 Posted November 9, 2015 Looks like a VR6 downpipe to me?
Dox 23 Posted November 9, 2015 I believe they have an embedded bypass valve so yes it could matter that it's the wrong way round. There's not much room for a bypass in the end cap?

Jim 2 Posted November 9, 2015 Also see the aux water pump... which would make it a VR. And the location of the ISV at the back of the manifold.

Wullie 1 Posted November 9, 2015 As the OP has only recently bought a VR6 I would hazard a guess at a VR6.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 9, 2015 Mine had that grey / blue outer covering, it's just heat shrink to hold the pipe's shape I think. Either way, that one is split and the outer layer is bulging accordingly!
Guest petercabrio Posted November 9, 2015 My picture is for a vr. Are the pipes the correct way round

g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted November 9, 2015 My picture is for a vr. Are the pipes the correct way round I would say no they are the wrong way round on a VR the feed hose comes from the left had side of the block, as per Dox pic EDIT - although the matrix is essentially a radiator flow direction shouldn't matter BUT the valeo matrix I recently fitted definitely had an arrow showing flow direction - so it must matter somehow

Guest petercabrio Posted November 9, 2015 After all that, I bought some std hose and a connector so at the worst I could cut the bad bit out and repair I cut the blue sleeve off and the pipe was perfect underneath Then put them back as should be Do I need some heat wrap on the pipe?
