dinkus 10 Posted July 11, 2004 very cool and you can keep them looking stock when you want as well. Mucho impressed :)
coolrado 0 Posted July 11, 2004 only cost 10 quid to do and i didnt have to modify the dash at all as i fitted the led's into the bulb holders im going to do the rest of the dash lights as well this week should look nice
Henny 0 Posted July 11, 2004 I toyed with that idea when I did mine, but wasn't sure if it'd look good or not... You've proved that it DOES look very cool... 8) Nice one! :D
woody 0 Posted July 12, 2004 Does anyone know what spec the normal lights are for the dash and can you upgrade them to give a higher output? If you replace the lights with LED's which will only work on and off what LEDS have people used and from where. Cheers
coolrado 0 Posted July 12, 2004 LED's dont just work on and off the normal dash dimmer still works with them 8) . the rgb leds i got where from ebay as they where half the price of the ones from rs components and quarter of the price of the ones from maplin and they arrive within two days 8) . Henny 0 Posted July 12, 2004 yeah, it's a common mis-conception that you can't dim the brightness of an LED.... you can in exactly the same was as you'd dim a lightbulb... 8)
coolrado 0 Posted July 12, 2004 yep the only difference with an led is that it lights instantly when you power it up and turns off instantly when you remove its supply unlike an incandescant bulb which fades on and fades off leds also use much less power 8)

kongo127 0 Posted July 12, 2004 Looking good mate! :D What size are those led´s?
Eug 0 Posted July 12, 2004 What kind of LED's are used behind the screens, and what kind for the 3 on top of the dials ? How many would I need and what kind of fitting are they each ie 286 slim wedge: 501 normal wedge: Twist fit:
Henny 0 Posted July 12, 2004 all are twist fit...
coolrado 0 Posted July 12, 2004 i dremmeled the original bulb holders for the leds to fit as you cant buy the rgb leds in a holder as they have four wires to each led tonight was the first time i have seen them while its properly dark and i think they look great the red digi looks like a 1980's casio led watch very retro 8)
