skid 1 Posted March 13, 2017 Rob, I disconnect the battery while I go offshore for 3 weeks (it's also got a parasite drain I still need to find/repair), so I understand it needs to learn new settings, but it's driven daily for the 3 weeks at home and it was still doing it in my last week of driving. gazvr6 10 Posted March 13, 2017 Yours must be a late one then. Mine is the early more expensive one, typical. My eyes lit up at £138 lol. Cheers anyway mate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

skid 1 Posted March 24, 2017 Well new MAF sensor fitted and its still doing it :( Just to clarify, when i got home and reconnected the battery, i did ECU basic setting by VAG COM and that has not stopped the fault. I did a vag com check, cleared it and checked again and this code is coming up 00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) 29-00 - Short to Ground I have taken a video of the idle hunting when the car was warm, i will post it later. I take it next move would to check all the Wiring going to the MAF?
jekel 10 Posted March 26, 2017 This must be infectious, mines started playing up for few seconds when start it whn warm, settles down after bout 5-10 secs, idle and hunting just like yours, feels like MAF probs. that cheap one I put in, but worked faultlessly for a year, I'll put the Bosch back in. Yours to me still sounds like MAF but given error codes you got there the wiring to MAF, or something the MAF's reading. I'd start looking from MAF plug backwards. I'll tell you if swapping my MAF fixes and that would tend to back up it been your MAF wiring.
jekel 10 Posted March 27, 2017 I'll tell you if swapping my MAF fixes and that would tend to back up it been your MAF wiring. Yes mine was the MAF, perfect now. Pins 3 and 4 think it was reading very low compared to Bosch ones, old and new Bosch reading the same. It did perform faultlessly for bout a year and was 35 quid or something in sale, get what you pay for suppose, new Bosch now in.

skid 1 Posted March 27, 2017 That's great news Jekel. Great news for me as I found a broken wire (actually a previous repair by someone connection) in the MAF loom, I have repaired that, and even though it hunted and coughed about intially after the repair! It's ran font so far this afternoon 😊

skid 1 Posted March 28, 2017 (edited) Well glad I never held my breath, even with that wire fixed I still have a problem. Better get back under the bonnet and check to see if there is another broken wire in the loom Tonight's VAG COM check came up with this 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation 11-10 - Control Limit Not Reached - Intermittent http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00537 I am Honestly losing my patience with this now :( Edited March 28, 2017 by skid
Jim Bowen 1 Posted March 28, 2017 Could be worth trying a new isv. I'd lend you mine if you were nearby.
skid 1 Posted March 29, 2017 Thanks Jim, I thought the ISV ONLY worked up to 85 Deg then the temp sensor/ecu controlled idle once warm?
robrado974 1 Posted March 29, 2017 I think you're both right . It's worth trying another ISV. Then a methodical check through the wiring.
skid 1 Posted March 30, 2017 Spoke to guy at local Bosch centre about getting fuel pressures, injection system checked etc. He said to change all the HT leads and prob the coil pack before anything else gets checked. He stated to buy Genuine VW HT leads as they are far better than anything out there, i phoned VW and they are obsolete but did cost £141+ for the set! Managed to order a Magnacor 8mm set for £103 from Demon Tweeks. Coil pack from VW is £321+ Vat!.......they can discount it to £231+ vat!
jekel 10 Posted April 7, 2017 Your symptons don't sound like coilpack at all. Run engine at night, imn dark, look for any blue flashes. New set of leads always a good idea, only ones worth having are VW/Bremi, Magnecor or Dubsport. Dubsport are the best, 10mm ones, ones to have, but difficult to fit, need to adapt a lead removal tool, and won't fit in holders, I've separate holders that do the job. Jim Bowen 1 Posted April 7, 2017 I've always used Beru coilpack and leads and they have been fine for years, the coilpacks used to be about £100, but now seem to be £160ish
skid 1 Posted April 7, 2017 I have tried that Jekel, and nothing to see. I got loan of a friends ISV, fitted that and the car ran perfect for 2 days, so I was just away to order a new one......then on 3rd day it misbehaved again 😧 So yesterday I changed the plug leads, and at the same time I noticed a crack in my PCV valve. I have done a temp repair to it and either it was the leads or the repair but the car has ran perfect yesterday and all day today..........let's see what the weekend holds! I chucked that years ago and fitted an oil catch tank, after the replacement also leaked, followed by chucking cabon can and te valve actuator thing, just under the MAF, after fitting a BMC intake kit, I'd recommend doing same to anyo9ne.
