Zyclamvw-scirocco 10 Posted June 29, 2017 I'm looking to up grade the fronts on the g60 to bilstein b8's, but whilst looking it seems there are different kits for different cars, though with some coilovers companies, there doesn't seem to be this distinction? Just want to make sure I don't buy the wrong Ines.... I've been offered a set of bilsteins marked for a vr6 or 16v , so wondered if it would be a waste of time getting them for my g60 Cheers guys
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted June 29, 2017 AFIK the only difference is if the vehicle is an early or late model as they have slightly different strut top caps, bushes & bearings if i remember right i believe it is possible to fit coilovers from a VR onto a 16v by using the late caps etc - at least i hope that is correct as ive some in the loft ready for when the valver needs it but havent yet got the late caps etc
Zyclamvw-scirocco 10 Posted June 29, 2017 Cheers It was actually seeing if vr6 ones would fit a g60, but maybe the trick of the later caps would work on my g60 too? My cars a '
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted June 29, 2017 Cheers It was actually seeing if vr6 ones would fit a g60, but maybe the trick of the later caps would work on my g60 too? My cars a '91 sorry i should have clarified - thats kinda what i meant as the G60 is a 1.8 lump, as is the 16v i have - thus if the conversion i mentioned was correct it should apply to you too :) 91 will be an early so putting the late caps etc on the vr coilovers should get you there - i have some printed out info that someone posted here for me somewhere, will go check for you

Yandards 0 Posted June 30, 2017 Aside from the top cap based faff the last year of production saw the 16v cars using the same springs and dampers as the VR6. You should also be able to interchange everything above the spring caps (upper spring seal on that pic) for stock early stuff too. As you have part numbers you can use VW Classic Parts, part number checker Link this is the supplier VW Heritage get their stuff from just enter the part number or a partial part number to stock check. Cressa 44 Posted June 30, 2017 Just to make things confusing, I have a 95VR and bought some lowering springs for it, which needed the early bloomin spring caps. Aghhh nothing is Ever straight forward with these cars. So I'd advise getting the springs just to make sure b4 buying the caps Cressa Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
