akacheesy 0 Posted October 4, 2017 So all the signs that my matrix has gone, had it replaced in 2011 and just dug out my receipt for the work over £500 for a £40 part. My question is, surely it should have lasted more than six years?
dr_mat 0 Posted October 4, 2017 Exploded or just no heat coming out? I suspect they are filling with the brown rusty mess that these old engines seem to be chock full of. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
akacheesy 0 Posted October 4, 2017 just windows steaming up, they get worse when you turn up the heat. It's more than just condensation as it leaves like a greasy element on the window which suggests coolant. I might be wrong, it also has a very broken retro fit air-con system on it which might be something to do with it but I just recognise the signs from the last time it went. dr_mat 0 Posted October 4, 2017 Ah. Yes, that sounds more like it's blown. Mine just stopped producing heat. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

dr_mat 0 Posted October 4, 2017 Yes, it's hours and hours of work. Labour rates "darn sarf" means it's a lot of cash. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

fendervg 33 Posted October 5, 2017 The cheap ones don't last long at all - go for a Valeo as above. One problem that can happen is that if the car overheats or there are other cooling issues, even a relatively new matrix can get damaged and crack. Dazz_G60_Wales 0 Posted October 5, 2017 If you do a search there are people who have managed to change it with the dash in place ! Mines blown but as I only use in the summer no need for heat so I bypassed it. When I sell the car I will give the new owner the new matrix LoL
dr_mat 0 Posted October 5, 2017 Yes I've read about people doing it with the dash intact, but it's quite a juggling act. For what it's worth Stealth Racing have an undeniable pedigree in VW circles and they prefer to take the dash out - or at least drop it away from the bulkhead far enough to get in. VEEDUBBED 0 Posted October 5, 2017 That can be done on corrados sans A/C, Corrados fitted with A/C- no chance.
Dazz_G60_Wales 0 Posted October 5, 2017 Mines no A/C so happy days then
