_Matt_ 32 Posted February 21, 2018 Hi, Just replacing my PCV valve as the casing is ripped and I was just wondering what the connecting piece with the part number 021103687 is for. I have attached a picture, it is the grey part. When connected to the car it has a wiring terminal plugged into it but as far as I can see there is no electrical contact points on the part - What is the point of it?! Cheers Matt
fla 9 Posted February 21, 2018 i think it was for a heater element as used in some of the Canadian/US cars - someone can probably confirm or otherwise clarify.
fendervg 32 Posted February 21, 2018 Yep, it's to heat and vaporise oil residue in cold climates during start-up. On UK cars it's always a dummy part with a plug going to it from the loom, but no terminal pins in the sockets. I've never been able to come across the part number for the actual part with the heating element in it and am not even sure if they are available any more, but they are not needed on our cars.
