Guy 0 Posted July 9, 2018 Hi, apologies if this has been gone over before and I've failed to find it. I've fitted (or am fitting) 280mm rear brakes to my VR6. My back plates were mostly rust and disintegrated on removal so I wasn't even able to offer them up to the car to see if they'd go back on with the new brakes. Any steer toward a suitable part most welcome!
tonedef 9 Posted July 9, 2018 I can measure mine later in the week if nobody else has opportunity, offshore at the moment though.
Guy 0 Posted July 9, 2018 Thanks mate!I guess diameter-wise we're not talking about a lot of difference, so I'm sure the originals would still serve their purpose, but originals seem thin on the ground, and quite a lot of money. My question was as much "is there anything else out there that can be made to fit without too much hassle"
GrahamU 6 Posted July 9, 2018 Have you looked at the back plates from a vented rears from a mk4 golf or Leon CupraR or Audi TT, they use 256 rear disks so may be a better option than the standard Corrado back plates. I should really get some for mine so interested to see what you do :)
dragon green 5 Posted July 9, 2018 I never had any on my 280mm rear brakes,....ever And come to think of it,I haven't got any on the front either ! Unless you're 100% original,(what you're not) why bother
Guy 0 Posted July 9, 2018 Thanks for the replies! Perhaps I'll just do without then. I knew plenty of people run cars without them, but I didn't appreciate how non-essential they actually are, plus I liked the idea of keeping the car as faithful as possible (although obviously I'm no purist)...
