Supercharged 2 Posted August 3, 2004 As some of you will know my car wasn't performing that well at the recent RRday and just to let you know It's all sorted and is going like a rocket - feels torque'ier and much more responsive! I'd like to say a BIG thanks to the guys at G-werks / Pitstop Developements especially Darren who went out of his way to sort out my 'jinxed' car and worked well into the night to troubleshoot the running issues as he was not happy with it - now thats what you call good customer service! :) When I had the charger done, we also did the water pump, fitted Samco's (which really held us up) and messed around with the oil cooler etc so we didn't have time to test it out fully as it was so late, so second time round we went thru everything, found a couple of large boost leaks (- plastic pipes near battery and one on TB) and spent ages testing it with the boost gauge and tweking the ignition timing to get it just right and for this Darren refused to charge me anything, I think overall he charged me for less than half the time he spent on the car!! Top bloke and highly recomended. :D The spec is now Stage 4 charger, 68mm pulley, SNS v5.5 chip with standard Intercooler, airbox and boost return still in place. After we fixed the problems we found we were getting 14.5PSI on the gauge (just over a Bar) at 6200rpm which seems pretty healthy - he said the charger was in good condition internally considering it had never been off the car in 89k miles and the engine was putting out 170BHP last year completly standard) Also the 14.5 PSI was on a very hot day and without any cold air feed... earlier on we found +2 PSI running the car with no drivers headlight but this is when it still had a boost leak so was down on boost anyways... Hopefully looking at around 17PSI when the colder weather comes and I have some sort of intake sorted! - almost making me look forward to winter! :? The drive back home was certainly quicker this time (last time I was running in the charger and leaking boost) plus I also had a huge block of marble in the boot - Yes, G-werks also specialise in kitchen work surfaces as well as G60 tuning. Can people with similar setups let me know what boost and BHP figures they are getting so I can get an idea of what to expect when I take it on the rollers...? It certainly feels quicker that any standard VR6 I have driven 8)
dannyp01 0 Posted August 3, 2004 I would like to know what BHP your getting because I have the same spec as you and only got 179bhp at stealth RR in june. I don't know what boost I'm running though.
Mike Edwards 0 Posted August 3, 2004 Hmmm. My stock G60 managed 174 (and Vince was checking the size of the pulley) last week, maybe yours was feeling a bit warm?
Supercharged 2 Posted August 3, 2004 I don't know what boost I'm running though. You can check boost without a gauge by putting the MFA in diagnostic mode, I'd do that then give Darren a call and he'll advise on how to check for leaks or other things to check if boost is good. dannyp01 0 Posted August 3, 2004 How do you put it into diagnostic mode ? I tried it once but it would'nt stay on when I started the engine.
kongo127 0 Posted August 3, 2004 Super, are you running red top fuel injectors? What about the fuel pressure regulator? :-P
Supercharged 2 Posted August 3, 2004 Kongo, No red tops and standard FPR.. the 5.5 map does not need it but may go for the RTs in the future... Toothed belt next me thinks... 8)

olly elworthy 0 Posted August 4, 2004 tell me more about this 5.5 map, how come it does not need the fpr upgrade? pretty interested in this,, :D
dannyp01 0 Posted August 4, 2004 They have different maps for the same chip depending on your setup. Contact Pitstop Developments they'll tell you more.
Supercharged 2 Posted August 4, 2004 Toothed belt and the Golf G60 intercooler Steve! Yes mate - very tempted now, even tho i'm happy with the current power! - I would highly recomend a trip down there, you won't get a better service anywhere else and even if there a couple of hours away its an easy journey and gives you chance to run the charger in on the way back! tell me more about this 5.5 map, how come it does not need the fpr upgrade? pretty interested in this,, Yes, I was supprised when they said I didn't, I think its only just come into effect on the 5.5 version - you need to speak to Darren for more info... 24V Renshaw 0 Posted August 4, 2004 I am running just a BBR chip and only a 71mm Pulley and saw 200BHP and 193lb'ft of Torque on the rollers at Stealth. The only other mod I have is a De-cat pipe so you should have at least that if everything is set-up and running correctly. Not sure what Boost I am running, but I guess it can't be too bad. :) J
kongo127 0 Posted August 4, 2004 G60Renshaw, 200BPH only running a 71mm pulley and a performance chip? That´s great! :D I wonder how much power i have then running 3.5fpr, brand new charger, 68mm pulley, ISV check-valve, SNS stage II chip (98RON), de-cat, stock fuel injectors... :?: Anyone knows?
Mike Edwards 0 Posted August 4, 2004 Jay, you do have an ISV re-route as well - plus there's that worrying thing you've done with the knock sensor...
