Angel eyes look crap - official - actually not too bad now

got some decent angel eye rings and fitted them tonight. some MAJOR issues:

 

1. they look crap against the yellow of the dip/fullbeam

2. there are that many ridges etc on the glass that it blurs the ring of light into a big smudge

3. the actual light is a bit wide to pull it off.

 

see for yourself. bit dissapointed but ah well

ah doesn't look too bad, I can see what you mean about the light being too wide for them tho... could you not move the inner ring a big further to the middle? that would probs make it look a lot better... but I guess it would be a fair bit of work too :(

easy to move the ring but then it doesnt line up with the headlight bulb and looks funny :(

I think just the inner ones would look good. Seen that on an American C and it looked good.

yeah im considering doing that and replacing the main bulbs with superwhite ones.

excuse my dumbness but is that all the lights (on the side fitted with angels) or are they just side lights? or dipped? do they give out more light than standard?

dont think you've got anything to worry about mate, they look nice! like you say few too many ridges in the glass stops it being perfect, but it looks a hell of alot better!

When you can see the round rings, set against the square look of the reflectors behind.

I did, they looked cheep and tack so took um out the day after!

i think if you are going to try and do the angel eye look you might as well upgrade the lights to the e36 ones... thats just what i would do.

really need new bulbs now as the yellow p!ss stain look of the OE ones doesnt go well with the eyes.

 

any recommendations for good superwhite bulbs?

if you can find any PIAA bulbs to fit in there...they make some nice white light. passibly a white LED bulb? that might give you a more interesting color.

your yellow glow is prob more to do with the VW wiring than the actual bulbs,,,

I think I'll try this tonight and post a pic - a single ring on the inner aspect of the light so you don't compromise the purpose of the lights but you still get a different look.

 

Oh and Gavin's headlight loom is a must...
