would you consider a corrado a classic turned away at car show
Pat. replied to ross k's topic in Off-topic Chat
Not everyone is as seemingly perfect as you 'Dave1949'. Firstly 'text speak', or lack of full use of words and punctuation, is NOT grounds to judge someone on their character and personality (Plenty of my friends use it, or aren't great with english/ punctuation- but they are extremely hard working, skilled professionals; so how you say it speaks volumes about the person I don't quite know). Yes I can see the point made by Tempest that sometimes when you read an ad on eBay or similar, that if the person who wrote the ad uses poor writing and 'text speak', it can be off putting. However, often or not this is due to very little being written! The OP Ross K has clearly voiced his argument and reasons behind it. Just because he may not have the best english writing skills, does not call for judging him in such a way. And again to 'Dave1949's petty and frankly embarrassingly belittling argument, I would have expected better from a senior member of society, let alone when it comes to a fellow car enthusiast. It just shows that Ross K can respond more maturely and can take comfort in the fact he isn't a patronising ambassador for a car show that seemingly doesn't quite understand their own admission rules (based on there being newer cars/ kit cars in with the classics). Rant over :thumbleft: -
Extremely large snail bolted on> garage> single digit mpg fuel costs :thumbleft: But yeah definitely sounds like a good idea to find a lock up, im always paranoid parking on the street! How does it handle on 17's out of interest?

Fair play! Have only heard good things about the trackslag downpipes. Welds look spot on too, either way they're both good value for the quality you get! Yeah good idea, I bet it's nice that you have the polo so you don't have to rush getting the engine in :) Have you figured out what resistors you'll need to get your gauges to work with the mk4 wiring? (I'm still yet to find the right one to get my temp gauge to read right!)

Thanks Mic! Proving to be a very friendly forum already! :) I do see what you mean Fla, but it's just abit too much beige for me haha. I'm hoping when I finish with the plastic trims, and centre console/ handbrake cover etc it should give a nice contrast between the beige leather & black trim whilst freshening the interior up. I could be completely wrong but we'll see! I'm just used to/ prefer black or dark interiors Don't suppose anyone knows what spacers you can get away with on the rear with standard speedlines & 205 width tyres? I have some 20mm ones but think I'll have to machine them down more?

Good progress! If you're opting for the Qpeng downpipe, it clears your steering UJ/ rubber boot fine! Just a word of warning, it'll melt fairly quickly unless you put some heat shielding on the rubber boot. But don't wrap the qpeng downpipe if you get one, as it'll cause the welds to crack next to the flexi! Another thing- Just had to put a new turbo on my mk2 20vt, make sure you put new studs/ make sure old ones are lubed for the exhaust mani if you get chance whilst the engines out- massive pain in the arse when they sheer off when the engine's fully in the car! Something I forgot to do when i converted it and it caused me hours of extra annoyance lol. ALthough looking at your nice shiny new turbo doubt you'll be needing to take it off any time soon!

Cheers mate, I'm really enjoying working on it. Yeah I love my mk2, always good fun and surprises alot of people! It used to be a vr6 before I converted it, so it's nice to have a car with the amazing vr soundtrack again!

Thanks! Hope to continue at this rate til I move back to Leicester in a few weeks. It is definitely with a good home, we've almost finished our garage so it'll be nice and dry too! I had abit of time this evening so I did the A pillar plastic covers, and the map light surround in black faux suede. Trying to gradually reduce the amount of beige! :thumbleft: Going to do the B/C pillars tomorrow if I have some spare time. Tempted to try my 9j borbet T's on, but I really like the standard speedlines- so may just put some spacers on!

Glad you got it back okay! You should have your sat nav back soon haha. (It's Patrick who bought your old corrado) I have to say you weren't wrong about the paint job, it looks great! What're your plans for it now then?

Hi everyone, new to Corrado ownership! Although not new to Vw's :) (had various polo g40's, mk2 & mk3 20vt golfs etc) Bought this Corrado last week off a friendly Corrado forum member! Parked next to my current Mk2 20vt that I recently finished converting. N/A vs FI! Overall the bodywork on the corrado is really good for the age, so I'm happy there. But there's various rust bubbles/ parking dents etc that I wanted to rectify. Rust broke through the paint and left the metal porous/ dimpled. So a few blobs of weld, and a good de-rust meant I could fill it properly. It's now in paint but I haven't polished it yet There was a large dent from some ice? on the bonnet, so I scoured out the paint, straightened the bonnet edge line and filled it properly. Has since had finer grade filler, along with paint! Again, just need to polish & blend it in (Fun! :thumbleft:) I am currently working on the back left arch blemishes, along with the front left arch parking dents. Have managed to get them out fairly well with the dolly & panel hammer. So should need minimal filling! General plans to do in the next week or so are to tidy it up, re- underseal, re-wrap engine loom (have some proper vw stuff) and a few other bits. I am wanting to get rid of the Beige leather/ plastics from the interior if anyone wanted to swap for a black interior with black plastics? Cheers, Patrick
