What have you got planned? off the lights: you lose. 0-60: you lose. 5 laps around a track... depends who's the better driver! STEP AWAY FROM GT4! :D

Yep yep, t'was me n' the lil' grey valver. Nice to see ya finally! Think you're like the 2nd ever person to spot themselves on a "spotted" post of mine. 1st one being smiff on a random M25 excursion. Hey ho! laaters randal

Three today! Two at Booker Airfield in Marlow, a black N plate VR6 - totally standard, looked awesome though. Also, L plate dragon green valver in the same car park. Awesome day out, went gliding for the first time - think I'll be going back too! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=499 Oh yeah, I think that was bighands I saw heading towards Bagshot from the Ravenswood r'bout too!

Mole grips? Sounds pretty terminal if they're rounded. :(

Hear hear. For one, my drive home tonight was certainly a lot more reserved.

Judging from the text layout on the chip, I'd presume that the "top left" (as you look at the pic) would be pin 1. On the chip seat, there should be a mark of some kind which would be pin 1 too. In theory anyway! Where is Bilal when you need him?!
-
Is there a pin 1 mark in one of the corners? Or something you can align it up with?

You guys want to see a MK4 jump? Filmed last night (Video)

Me either, still listen to that often. In fact, the whole album is wicked. :D -
My thoughts are with you, and your friend's family. This is something too tragic for words. :(

Turns out that was the wrong question he answered :joker: Hey ho. However, he did answer a subsequent question about it. Apparently the standard 3 wire loom is good to go, a wire from the headlight switch just needs to be run to allow the LED's to function whilst the headlights are on. He also dropped me the dimensions: Standard fitting is : 150mm X 70mm on the outside lip Inside edge is: 132mm X 53mm The Passat/Bora light is: 160mm X 78mm on the outside lip Inside edge is: 147mm X 65mm I reckon the headlining can be cut back, and strengthened with fibreglass - should work out AOK. I'm going to wait until I get back off holiday, grab one, green LED it, hack up the head lining, then I'll post a pic. randal

Two this morning on the M23 between Gatwick and the M25, a red one and a silver one. Nice to see us all using the "brisk" lane to full advantage, albeit me on the other side of the road. May explain why I didn't get the reg/model, although my grin at some 180+ mph must have looked pretty stupid

Emailed the seller on the 'bay, and got this response. Now this is comedy.... You asked: "Just wondering if you'd heard of any one retro-fitting one of these into a 1990 corrado? regards" REPLY: I dont think it will work unless the car has a drive by wire ECU 4 wires going into the fitting. + - Door switch Boot switch? So where does the ECU figure in that? I'm stumped
-
Damn why didn't I think of that? Hmm, that gives me an idea... :D

Whoa, people still do this? I thought we were the only ones that did it! Must admit, when we did it was a crappy mk2 fiesta and some equally crappy kenwood speakers. Tweeters, mids, woofers - the lot. Looking hysterically funny! Didn't sound too bad considering though. Given the price of speakers, I'd just grab a set for about £60 or so. That's all I've got on my stealth shelf. Infinity's powered by a PG QX series amp, kicks enough arse for my liking. Audio purists would shun the shelf idea though, can see where they are coming from too. Maybe an idea to make some door pods, and dump a sub/basslink in the boot.

Oh sounds so familiar! Had to sort a similar list when I got mine too, with the exception of the head gasket. In fact, it's due on the ramps weekend after next to get some more done. Susp, wheel bearings, bushes etc.. ...all the fun things that 14/15 year old cars could do with. Stick with it, seems like a pain in the arse now but it's worth it for the grin factor. :D

Forgot to mention - use the search function here for more information. There are countless threads about this, should be something in there that'll see you right. hth randal

Not sure why the fronts can't be used. No doubt there is a random bit of metal in the way that VW thought the car would benefit from. In all fairness, it might just be easier to grab handles from a rado being broken and swap your lock barrels in. Anyone else tried this? I'd go the Passat rear handle route if you are planning to get a new alarm, or sort the old one. Probably easier to replace. My 1990 rado had a screwed Scorpion piece of crap alarm that went off every 5 minutes and messed me around with the central locking. Ditched that first of all, and replaced with a Toad. Worth doing if you can spare the cash, peace of mind and all that.
-
Welcome to the forum, Try GPC - http://www.gpcvwaudi.co.uk As far as I know, the rear handles will fit IF you change the mechanisms. Then you just need to have a reliable central locking alarm, as that'll be your way of entering the car. Well, there is the boot - but that's less than dignified. Although a bird in a short skirt entering... anyway I digress. :D There are plenty of people breaking Rado's (sadly) in the Parts for Sale section. You might also want to repost this, or ask a mod to move this to the Parts wanted section. Oh yeah, try ebay too. Ta randal

Mailed the guy earlier who is taking measurements of the light, see if we can get away with this. If it's all good , i'm now toying with changing the red in light to green LED's to match the car. Then change the red LED's for the ambient light to ultra bright blues, matches the stereo/dash that way - without changing every switch in the car  edit - or amber, match the "on" indicators on the switches.
-
Hey Phil, guess what I'm staring at right now? :D UltraLEDS.co.uk, DDI 3mm 12V LED's and how to take apart dash clocks on that Canadian webby! Must be glutton for punishment... Nah, seriously though I reckon it's totally do-able without too much fuss. I'm thinking 10 3mm LED's for the switches (say 15, allowing for cock ups), 3 (say 5) for the dash clocks and we're away. Only thing I'm still unsure of is if that would fit - however, the trip to the stealer is a neat idea. In an ideal world that bora/golf fitting would be square based, with a curved lip to over hang on the headliner. D'ya reckon the sales people would mind me yoinking the light fitting out of a golf and "testing" it in me rado? Was just about to MSN you about another thread btw, then it crapped out! Damn you Gates, damn you good...

Ah, I knew there'd be a gotcha! I'll be OK about the sunroof switch, as I've got the early valver with the seperate switch. Was more worried about the whole unit fitting in the destined hole. All in all, it sounds possible - just a bit of a mare if it doesn't fit. Damn this has got me toying with "red-ifying" my switches and dash clocks now too. Although isn't red an arse with the dash clocks, I remember reading something about naff visability? ta for the response randal

Anyone had any experience of fitting one of these? Mine is a bit loose, thought it might be cool to upgrade as opposed to replace. The only possible problem I can see is the curved edges, the 'rado ones are square - dunno about wiring also. tia randal

geez, imagine it - w*nker lights on demand with rear heated windscreen. Oy, sounds like a fuse blowing minefield to me.

Admit it guys c'mon, you've only got wires going to them cos they light up
