  1. Hey all, long time no speak.... As you may know, My insurance comp sold my car without my knowledge earlier this year and now I need to send them an estimate of parts that I was going transfer to another C. If I list some the bits here, can you guys let me know (in a non-I'm going to hold you to that quote) how much I would ordinarily have to pay for them? Mint late black heater leather interior, full (I'm guessing £600 - £800? but I really havnt got a clue) Low mileage, excellent condition VR6 engine, loom and Box (again, I aint got a Scooby....) 312mm calipers and carriers from a GTi anniversary Golf (again mint) Koni Fully adjustable Coilovers (about a year old) Full sunroof mech, again about a year old, replaced by VW Anything else you guys can think of..... Cheers all, really appriciate it. God I miss my Corrado's.....Cant wait till this is finally sorted and I think I might go and get me another G60.... I miss the fun.... 8)
  2. cheers for the words of support guys! Yeah well Ive already written to the DVLA and they've confirmed that the car will remain mine untill I say so! Also written to topgear, watchdog, and the governments own consumer rights thingy. Havent had a chance to speak to a copper yet, gonna try do that today.....
  3. oh and in the meantime, if anyone spots my car in a breakers yard, L693XLL, dragon green VR6, black leather interior etc PLEASE let me know where it is asap!!!!!
  4. yeah good idea. I have already contacted DVLA saying that I am not relinquishing the V5 and if anyone requests that it be acknowledged as scrap that they ignore it. Im going to speak to plod, best friends wife is a copper, so hopefully she can advise, or point me in right direction at least!! I'll go write an email to watchdog etc now...... :?
  5. I got my insurance thru Lancaster Insurance and I think its with Zenith. The claim is actually being delt with by "The Claims Service". The thing is, its not that they are unwilling to sell me my car back (they've already told me that I can), its the fact that they cant, because they have already sold it!!
  6. OK now im peed again  Before I accepted the settlement, they had already sold my car on to a Salvage yard, who in turn have sold it on again. MY understanding is that untill I accept, the car is still mine, especially as I still have the V5..... I have also made it clear that I wanted the car back from day 1. Can anyone advise on this? Does anyone know the exact law here, or know where I can find it out?
  7. LOL! cheers, hopefully the next one wont get written off! I'll probably be getting something a little slowernext time. The crash made me think about a lot of things, and after owning both a G60 & a VR6 Corrado over the past 3 years, I feel its time to move onto something else. Having said that, I dont think I'll ever top the VR6. Best car I've ever had, and probably will ever have....RIP my friend :( No deal made as of yet, but I do want her back, as she's got some stuff in her worth a fair amount! Full heated black leather, a VGC 80k VR6 engine....to name but a few things..... 8)
  8. Update guys!! Result! After writing to them, sending them autotrader quotes, pictures of my car and offering a testimony as to how nice my car was by a VW Mechanic, they have agreed to pay out £4800!! woohoo!! :D I am a happy bunny, and altho it has taken time, this just proves that everyone should persue there claims as much as possible!! Good luck guys! 8)
  9. Did u miss my post a couple months ago m8? nearly killed meself when me brakes failed coming onto a roundabout at 70mph....not nice.....
  10. Im having a problem getting my insurance comp to pay out a reasonable amount for my RIP VR6. They are obviously asking for more proof that the car is worth more than they are offering for it. Just briefly, it is a 94, Dragon Green, 80k on the clock. Engine in top condition, interior mint (Heated Black Leather), exterior was excellent before the crash, full VWSH, loads of reciepts for just about everything (including a few for some Synta Silver...), everything worked. Basically it was a very good example. They came in with a first offer of £2400. I spose thats not too bad for a first offer, but i obviously told them where to stick it and printed off 6 Autotrader ads for cars of similar age & spec, slightly higher mileage and most in conditions not as good as mine, ranging from £4500 to £6000. Those below £4500 where not anywhere near the condition/spec of mine. They've come back to me saying that the engineer said my car was in "average" condition, despite it being in excellent and low mileage! Anyhoo.... what do think guys? What should I be looking at accepting and what should be my next step?
  11. hehe, good idea! Just got my courtesy car.....its a bloody Citreon C1!! :? Think I may just use my 20yo Polo again..... ;)
  12. Cheers guys. vwdeviant, it was pedal straight to the floor, nothing there at all. The cars being taken away to be assesed tomorrow morning. I'll let you know if they find out what went wrong.
  13. no xbones, I'd kept a close eye on that. Im also using Goodridge hoses, doesnt seem to be anything to do with them. Funny thing is all the brake system looks to be ok, just no brakes :?
  14. Im afraid theres been a nasty development in my Corrado Ownership. Was approaching a roundabout near my place earlier @ about 65-70 and suddenly had no brakes! Its a reasonable sized one, stormed onto it at like i say, 65-70, ploughed into the brickwork, bounced off, over the triangle bit where ajoining road joins, straight into kurb on other side. Needless to say, its made quite a mess. Drivers side wheel has been ripped from the driveshaft and lower ball joint, passenger side wing has big crease in it, drivers door doesnt fit right, wing is bent, rear offside wheel is toeing in at bottom and windscreen is coming away drivers side! Sounds like a twist in chassis so not looking good. I cant actually believe how lucky I am. To not have stationary traffic on my approach. To not have traffic on roundabout. To not spear into someone at the other junction on roundabout. To not have anything at all solid in my path. I consider this a stroke of luck and am now seriously reconsidering what I want from a car. Still, at least I am ok, and no-one else was involved. Metal can be replaced. Flesh cannot. :?
  15. Cheers for the offer, but my speedlines have bald tyres on them! Anybody else? One of my fronts has a bit of a dent in it and its causing me hassle now, so need these refurbed asap. :?
  16. Anyone got a spare set of alloys that will fit over a 312mm brake conversion that I could borrow for a week while I get mine refurbed? Cheers. 8)
  17. Its just starting to feel wrong. Little too spongy on the rear for me, little bit of understeer, etc. Looks like I'll probably get some new ones then, but now its a question of what coilies to go for! Oh and also the bushes, are polyflex ones worth it, or might I just as well go for stock VAG ones?
  18. right, yeah i forgot to put mileage up.... Anyway, these have done probably at least 40k+ and as I say it doesnt quite "feel" as good as it did when I first got her. seems to understeer a lot more, tho that might just be me driving faster....
  19. How long should a set of Coilovers last? The ones on my VR (Koni FA) have been on for over 4 years now, and I'm starting to think that they might need replacing.
  20. Yes m8! There was a post in the off topic section about it.
  21. Yeah got heated leather. Its in good nick as well, so dont really want to change that at the mo. I'd Considered a TT dash, but think thats taking too much away from the feel of an OEM+ Corrado. I'm chroming up a few bits and maybe adding a TT gearstick, maybe a Momo wheel, but really dont want to change the rest too much internally. Already got nice rims, altho they need a refurb and its already dropped, altho I am again considering changing the suspension as I cant get hold of any of those collars that raise and lower the coilovers (Koni's).
  22. Coz i could get run over by a bus tomorrow...... :-P Seriously, Ive already got long term investments in property, so this is all just bonus cash. 8)
  23. Completely agree. When I got my first Corrado, the G60, I drove about 2 hours to get it, and funnily enough that had 148k on the clock as well..... 8)
  24. Now that I've succeded in getting my money back from the bank, I'm really unsure what to do with it. I posted up on VR6OC that I was considering selling my VR to get a TT, probably a 225, but have since changed my mind. They've made there feelings quite clear over there and I think I know what you guys are gonna say, but wouldnt mind your opinions anyway......so heres what I think my options are at the moment; Get a charger for my VR.[/*:m:bada6] Do some cosmetics to my VR, as in respray and sort out lots of little things.[/*:m:bada6] Ive been offered a tax exempt Beetle, with a turbo running sub 13 1/4m's......[/*:m:bada6] So what do you think? Or maybe you have some more Ideas for me?
