  1. Bloody ABS. MOT fail for light not going off. Worked perfectly until MOT day. I borrowed a Launch Creader which gave the following error codes '112 - ABS inlet valve rear left' , '116 - Main ABS valve' and '119 - Road Speed Sender. G68' Any advice please
  2. Repair kit arrived today. Instructions about as much use as an astray on a motorbike but managed to find a low quality instruction video on Youtube. Very fiddly job. Drilling out the roll pin destroyed several drill bits but got there in the end. Handle operation feels smoother than previously so, overall, well satisfied with the result.
  3. Thanks. Reverse thread. The thought had crossed my mind and I then thought 'No obvious reason' Anyone know why? Repair kit ordered from Amazon, Thanks.
  4. Tried opening the driver's door. Handle loose and does not operate catch. Opens from inside so I tried to take the handle off. The screw refuses to move. I have tried my impact driver and a 2lb lump but no movement at all which is strange as the car had a total respray 12 months ago and the handle was removed for that. Anyway, I am thinking about drilling the screw out but I don't know what is inside. Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. If I make a new alternator direct to battery lead what do I do about the thin blue wire. Does anyone know its purpose please?
  6. That is the one - VR. I think the small blue is for the ignition warning light. How much are you asking?
  7. Alternatively, what rating is the cable? I can make up a cable to suit. It is smaller than the main battery to starter cable and I believe that is 10mm. Leaning towards 6mm but would be grateful for any advice.
  8. Had a senior moment which has caused me some grief. flat battery a couple of days ago and in a hurry to get to meet someone. No time to recharge and a neighbour seeing me with bonnet up offered a spare battery. Gladly accepted but in the rush to get going failed to notice the battery was 'wrong way round' for VW. Connected it and by the time walked round to the drivers door the insulation on the alternator to solenoid had melted. The car runs on a charged battery without any problems and the alternator is putting out 14.5v. I just need to source a new cable to get me mobile again. Google gets me loads of diagrams but don't know where to look for a replacement. Any suggestions please.
  9. Standard relayed loom with Osram Nightbreaker Plus. Improvement over standard but still inadequate. Never heard of kur2y loom. Could you send details please.
  10. Quite fancy a trip to the West Country next weekend. Let me know when you are available. I would like to get the journey completed during daylight if possible. Crap lights even after upgrade.
  11. Thanks, It started with a wiggle. Is there a tutorial on the forum for changing the ignition barrel?
  12. Collected my VR6 last evening after sheep damage repair and drove to the supermarket. Returning to the car with a case of beer turned the key and - nothing. No noise from the solenoid and the lights did not dim. AA patrolman arrived to find no current at the solenoid. He wired up a direct battery starting wire and suggested that the cause of the problem could be the starter relay. I have searched all the literature that I can find but no mention of a relay in the system. Anyone else had experience of this problem. Any advice appreciated.
  13. Hi Rich, I'm interested in the headlights. Lost two in 2 weeks and as they are getting more difficult to find I want to keep some spares in hand. I shall be visiting my son in Derbyshire in about 3 weeks and would prefer to collect in person if that is OK? I can either pay cash on collection or send payment to suit you. Cheers Ian
  14. I have traced a headlight but it is chipped. Do Autoglass do repairs?
  15. Update following suicidal (successful) Scottish sheep: Apart from the bonnet I lost the N/S headlight unit. Traced one from a breaker and fitted it within the week. S**t happens! Replacement unit shattered by a stone on M6 on the way home. (Really don't like that road south of Preston). I have the choice of a dozen or more offside units but very limited N/S. The reflectors are undamaged and I have been told that it is possible to replace just the lens? GSF list them but without delivery option. Out of stock within 100 miles of home - Mid Wales. Anyone know of a source? Second option. Can early model lights be adapted/fitted to late VR6. As a last resort, are the American modern replacements legal in the UK? I also found units on ebay with French yellow reflectors. Can these be replaced by the undamaged parts in my light unit? I can afford to take my time as some strong clear adhesive tape will keep me legal. Any advice appreciated.
  16. Going off at a tangent, apologies, as I can't find a suitable thread. Apart from the bonnet I lost the N/S headlight unit. Traced one from a breaker and fitted it within the week. S**t happens! 17. My VR6 was collected from the body shop less than 2 weeks ago. Beautiful aqua blue pearl. On holiday in Scotland yesterday when a sheep ran out from behind a parked vehicle about 15 feet in front of me. It could have been worse, 1 dead sheep, nearside headlight unit and indictor destroyed and the corner of the bonnet (resprayed inside and out) l have traced the lights and a bonnet should one be needed. Does anyone know if a bonnet will fit inside a Corrado with the rear seats down or removed? The same source has a boot lid which my son needs, hence the double question. David tells me that the answer is somewhere on the forum but I can't find it. Cheers Ian
  18. Sorry Folks, years of owning Sciroccos, so made the assumption that the retaining gizmo is the same or similar. It ain't, simple metal slot to locate the rear seats on near and off side but the plastic cover had moved on offside hiding the metal slot. Please forget.
  19. Any chance you still have the rear seat nylon locating bushes?
  20. Removed rear seats in preparation for a complete respray next week. Nearside seat should locate in a nylon bush set into the rear wheel arch. It is broken, a similar problem on the many Sciroccos that I ran 1990 - 2012. Anyone know what the part name is and where I can get hold of one. Is it a common fitting on Golf/Passat etc?
  21. Parts arrived today. Easy fitting but had to wait for dark to try them out. Not brilliant by modern standards but a huge improvement over original and the crappy ebay HID kit.
  22. Thanks Guys. I have ordered the necessary.
  23. VW Volkswagen Corrado 90-95 Black Halo Projector Headlights on ebay I have been exploring this route to better lighting after the dismal failure of an HID system. Easy enough to work out the cost but does anyone know what the import duty/VAT is likely to be? Also not sure that they would be UK legal as the dip would be set up for RHD/
