  1. Just been reversed into by a car while parked. Insurance company advised, who tell me that I should be prepared for a write off due to the age of the car. Doubt that but we shall see. Anyway, front bumper will need a respray and the offside fog light will have to be replaced. So, offside fog in good condition anyone?
  2. Appreciated thanks, but I have decided to treat him to a new set of leads.
  3. Yup VR6. Original I think but not red - black,
  4. Managed to damage one original ignition lead. Looking to replace originals. 2 questions: Is it worth shelling out for blue igniters from C&R? If so, how much: 'phone for price' scares me a bit. Will 8mm leads fit in the guides and is there any advantage to 8mm over 7mm?
  5. Tried a 'generic' but it has not been a success. Pulling a long cable tie attached between the release springs and sticking out through the VW badge, I tried ordering from tdn but they refused postage to my address. Not sure why.

Has anyone done away with the PCV and fitted an oil catch tank. Is it do-able and if so info would be appreciated.
  7. I have read that new rules apply from April based on emissions. I know what my MOT reads but there is no way of converting to g/km. I have got a bad feeling that the VR6 is going to be hit hard. Anyone know which band they are likely to fall into?

VW OEM are £55.50 and Ford is even more expensive. Hoping to pick up a decent used valve.

My PCV valve is mangled and leaking. Can anyone help?
  10. Thanks, I have ordered a cheap generic cable from VW Heritage, if it does not work I'll be back,
  11. Broke mine this morning. Can anyone help please.
  12. Looking on ebay and leather repair kits kept coming up. Anyone tried them?
  13. Now that my ABS and starting problems have been sorted I have fallen in love with my VR6 again and decided to keep it. The front seats are looking very tired and I look enviously at my son's Ford leathers (Escort RS I think). To help my search can someone please let me know any known cars, VAG or otherwise which have compatible leather seats - I have started the list from the Forum with Audi TT.
  14. Sorted! Took it to a local garage advertising diagnostics and asked them to look at the ABS. Collected it today, the mechanic told me that he checked for continuity and cleaned all connections on the ABS wiring. Light goes out and no error code now.
  15. After weeks of ABS free of problems it has started again. Light stays on after initial self test but always behaves correctly after a drive of 10 miles to the nearest town. Any thoughts?
  16. Replaced relay 109 (£8.90 from ebay, 24 hour free delivery) and problem solved - I hope, it was intermittent so I shall have to wait to see if this was the solution.
  17. Just wondering if it was the immobiliser I was working on. It was a plastic box with 2 small connectors on the bottom surface. The box is roughly 75 x 20 x 75. Behind it I have just found another box with a multi pin connector which I have not been able to remove yet. Advice please.
  18. Experiencing a similar problem. Temperamental starting recently, sometimes running for a couple of seconds and running properly on 3rd - 5th attempt, sometimes not starting immediately but running OK after a "rest". Now not starting at all, not firing with strong smell of fuel. Located the immobiliser box, removed leads and carried out procedure as above. No change, but inspection showed lead contacts clean and shining silver. Is my next step to get hold of a replacement immobiliser box?
  19. Drove to the shops, started car to come home and the ABS did s system check and went out. Mad dash to the MOT garage and now OK for 12 months. Still haven't a clue what has happened.
  20. 'sounds like the ABS unit needs a refurb' Do you mean the pump?
