Looking for a boss to fit my soon to be delivered Momo to the Corrado. Anyone got one lying about before I order one off the bay.
-
Anyone one on here from or know loads about Sheffield?

Just google street viewed my way down there and can't see owt. How far after the Pizza Hut are they? -
How often do the matrix blow? Its a job I've not done but I'm sure the Raddo will treat me to it at some point.
-
Seems wrong doesn't it, having loads of movement on the adjuster but the tension needed is found at the end of movement. I'd have expected it to start mid point at least.

My electric windows stopped working (both sides) and assumed a fuse may have been blown if they'd frozen shut. Before I checked the fuse, I tried them again with the drivers door open and they worked. My problem is obviously a wire feeding the switches in the door which will have failed due to fatigue, but anyone know what colour before I attack the wiring. Also noticed the electric mirrors have stopped too so assume its the same feed.

I buy Halfords 10/40 semi in bulk (a years supply) when its on offer. It was recently £12 x 4L (perfect for a change)and the offer may still be on. Cheap as chips and means I don't mind dropping the oil every 4000 miles.

Ooops updated the other (related) thread.....cut/paste time.....Well to update the situation, the 865 was too short despite being listed for my car so it'll be going back. Looking at the difference in the Dayco belt that was about 2 months old and the Continental new belt, there is a massive difference in the width of the v's, the Continental looking much chunkier. It's looking like a 950 Continental will be purchased and I'll never buy a Dayco again as it was way too long when new and seemingly crap quality as it didn't last.

It is a 50mm from the MK2 Golf GTI KR? engine (I got one for xmas, currently at powder coaters and soon to meet my 9a) http://wiki.the-corrado.net/16v_tuning_guide.html

I'm going to collect the 10x865 belt which hopefully will be the correct one as the 950 is way too big. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.0_1992/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/car-drive-belt/?202440145&1&4b920131fb1e8ab4cb4698c0c3aaeb84fb7468fb&000108

Loving the boot install

Alternator replaced and charging is resumed. I do however need an smaller belt as the 950mm is now at max adjustment. I believe the 950mm is the wrong belt for my raddo as it always seemed too long (see other thread).
-
Prefer the standard shape, but there's nothing like owning a car that shouldn't exist.....like the 4 door Ford Escort "Mexico" I know of.
-
Yes, it slips at max adjustment (alternator closest to the block). I'd have expected a new belt to be at min/mid adjustment. I know the 950mm was longer that the glazed one it replaced but it didn't have any size markings. Just found this http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/drive-belt/contitech-avx10x865_g305_a031AVX10X865.html that suggests the 865mm fits the Passat (same engine)
-
950 is what I have on my alternator and from new it been at max adjustment so its too long.
-
Well I've checked the belt recently sold as the correct for my corrado and its a Dayco 10A0950C which on looking up is 950mm long and was probably the wrong part for my car (no wonder it had hardly any adjustment). When trying to find the correct length, I note 4 sizes are listed - 630mm, 730mm, 865mm & 950mm. I assume the smaller sizes are for the power steering pump and guess I need the 865mm - Can anyone confirm? Thanks, Stuart.

Scrap!

its like powder coat, only faster :bonk:

After exhausting the search and getting no where, can anyone tell me the size of belt required to run the alternator (I best change it whilst its in bits). I want to pick one up on my why home so can't look at the car to see if any numbers on the one fitted. Read somewhere (but failed to find) that suppliers sometimes provide the wrong length belt. Any help would be appreciated. Stuart.

Chrome power coat, fit and forget

Will see how it goes after a week of normal traffic filled driving, that way I'll get a better idea about the MPG. The driving experience/delivery of power seemed better.

Battery was changed for a known good one before the test (this was showing 12.6 after a rest). Tried adding some RPM but no change in voltage when I'd have expected it to raise a bit. Also no belt squeal during the test. Have bitten the bullet and bought a new alternator and hopefully this'll cure the problem.
-
I swapped the fuel metering head when mine when it sometimes felt like it was lacking and wanted to die at acceleration and occasionally stalled. This fixed my car's problem.
-
Not had use of it for the last week as it ran out of electricity and I need a new alternator. will update in a week or so.
-
Well the new brushes were fitted and showed 14.6 at first, but this reduced once all electrics switched on so it looks like the alternator is at fault.
