ChrisL, what's the turnaround on 'em and for how much? Any way I can get a pair now and send mine off for exchange?

Hey folks, Looking on Eurocarparts for a replacement pair of front callipers. I can see two different Pagid parts with different prices, any idea what the difference is? Are they both remanufactured OE parts? Here are links to each front right parts: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1992/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133441061&1&eccc6059fe80bee4ebef579edd5644372382f0b7&000048 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1992/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-caliper/?133441281&1&5eebbf9cf74d0deb5699b53bd7cf6b9935a581c4&000048

Looks great. Are you completely without spacers now then?
-
Thanks for the update Dave. For anyone else on the trail: I asked John at JMR and he said that they're not required per se, but obviously a nice to have. I'm going to proceed without them for now, but I'm getting a friend of mine to machine a pair of non-ABS shields (http://c1552172.r72.cf0.rackcdn.com/122803_x800.jpg) to fit.

Hi Rob, did you get any further with this? I'm rebuilding right now and can't find any unfortunately. Are they strictly necessary? -
Hey Dave, did you ever sort this? Are these strictly needed?

Nice! You're the only other person I've seen with a VR and early style interior.

Silver one (sounded very VR6) spotted around North London, unfortunately was in my polo :S

John Mitchell JMR Ltd 4WD 16V Turbo Corrado Build
unclean replied to 16VG60's topic in Members Gallery
Hey John, Build is looking absolutely awesome, glad to see it's progressing! Love the details on the interior with JMR-coloured rivets. I'll need to check it out in person when it's time for the next batch of work on mine :thumbleft: Cheers, Phil. -
I decided to see exactly what was up with the rear brakes yesterday as the discs don't seem to have been clearing rust, etc. properly and don't get very hot even after giving it some abuse. Took the interior trim off, loosened the handbrake cables. Then tackled the rear callipers with some plusgas and they both came off without much fuss. The pads and discs were replaced by the previous owner, but I don't think ever bedded in and then left garaged. Both in good nick but I think I'll throw the pads away as they look to have glazed over. The backing plate on one side was completely flapping around, and I was able to rip most of it straight off it was so rusty. Feeling quite lucky it didn't insert itself into the braking system :bonk: Once the callipers were out I gave it my best shot to move the pistons and they absolutely wouldn't budge, which would explain some of the dubious braking I'd been experiencing! I'm going to make the order for Mk4 Golf rear callipers this week along with new handbrake cables. A couple of questions I wonder if anyone on here could help with, not sure exactly which cables to get, but it looks like http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1992/p/car-parts/car-body-parts-and-car-exhaust/cables/handbrake-cables/?108440798&1&ff6bb7d4e72f083c086acae603abc37b650174ba&000168 should do? And I'd like to fit new backing plates, but it looks like a total nightmare. Is it possible to do this without upsettings the bearings given I wasn't planning to have the discs off?

Definitely a great excuse for a road trip!

Yo sir, I was waiting back from Chris to confirm about the discount on fans, but I'll happily get in touch with 'em. No problem about Chris being away of course, just wondering whether I should prioritise this or drop some money on brakes (-:
-
ChrisL any update on the brackets? My fans are starting to make some very concerning noises (-:
-
Amazing ChrisL! Thanks for all your work :D
-
Also M*** *DT in blue on Borbet As down in Linwood on Saturday.
-
H*** ENK in blue spotted on the A40 yesterday, unfortunately was in my Polo estate :)
-
ChrisL - if you could let me know the overall cost with (and without) discount for the fans and whether we'd be using the models I pointed out, or something different, I can edit the group buy thread I made over at http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=87447 to include these.

Thanks for the advice guys. Of course no note left, sigh. Can anybody recommend a good dent/body place in the South East? Fortunately upon a bit further inspection, the paint doesn't seem to damaged, but it looks like the clearcoat might need sorting. Either way I have no idea what I'm doing with paint so I'd like the get the opinion of somewhere trustworthy.

Dead excited about these :) My current set sounds like it's about to give up the ghost any day now :S Chris (VAG-hag) I forgot to post a link to the 9" suction which I believe you'll also need (one of each 9/11") - http://www.serckservicesmotorsport.co.uk/9-inch-fans/spal-9-inch-fan-12v-suction-type-curved-blade-2076378-285845-668948.php

Somebody managed to do this in the 12hrs it was parked, of course no details left. Classic London. It looks like it's not actually too deep into the paint, but I'm not sure how to proceed with getting it corrected, along with the big dent. It's also dark burgundy pearl, so not really much chance of finding a matching wing. Do you guys think this is the kind of thing Chips Away would be able to sort? Thanks, Phil.
