but that would require registering with Max Pooer. ooooo the shame.

I love to reply to that topic to wind them up a little, but I simply cannot bring myself to register on Max Power forum...

Heh, yea I know exactly what you mean - My Golf Cab has a weber carb on it and it would DEFINATELY be a bad idea on that thing! So this leak-down test. I have an airline and can make up tools if need be, but would it be worth getting a proper garage to do this test (if I can find one to do it like Scott mentioned!) ? Whats it going to tell me?
-
Hmmm, My pops told me that too - crank each one the same amount of times (say, 4 or 5), but it does say in the Bentley Manual to keep cranking until the pressure stops going up. And yea, I had the throttle fully open whilst doing it too.
-
Good point, that could explain why number 1 is higher than all the others. Is this where a "leak down" test would be beneficial? Not had any experience of a leak down test to be honest.

Yea, that was my original post! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10289

I would hope I did. Fuse No.18 out and relay #167. Took all the plugs out to make it less effort for the engine to turn (and use less power). Stuck the gauge in 1, then 3, then 5, then 2 etc Then turned the engine over until the pressure wasn't going up any more in each one.

the third one happens to me, i've been told it's the starter motor not fully disengaging. Remedied by taking off the motor and greasing up the moving parts. Not done it yet like, so i can't really comment on it!

Okay, I managed it anyway. Here's my results if anyone can shed any light on these? 1 - 187 2 - 144 3 - 175 4 - 161 5 - 175 6 - 171 I find it a little odd that 1 and 6 are good and those are the plugs which oil up, 1 especially badly. (1's even the highest!) I'm assuming the oil loss/burning is more than likely the head then? Probably the guides/stem seals? Gonna have a go at these when i get back from hols i think. I've simply put off doing it til i get less busy!

I took out Relay number 167 as per Phat's advice in another post, but what about stopping it sparking? Yea i know it's nearly 10pm on a school night, but need to check this out now! =[

I have the bentley manual, but it doesn't cover my specific engine (only engine code AAA) it mentions about removing the main lead to the distributor, trouble is, mines coilpack. What do I need to do to do this without chucking fuel into the cat? Failry URGENT cos i just took one of my plugs out to give it a clean (started to misfire) and the plug was DRIPPING oil all over the place. Need to check it now really. Bit worried. =[

Anyone ever done anything different with their Head Units?
Dilated replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I'd go with what Yalan said. My friend had a kenwood touch screen head unit in his Pug206, and he carefully butchered the standard crappy stereo (they are a strange moulded-into-the-dash shape) and glued the front of it onto the front of the tv, so when it closed it fitted flush and looked standard. Was a well trick little mod =} If you go the route of hiding it with fake gauges etc and trying to show you have no stereo in at all, any decent thief would be very curious as to what isn't standard on the car and/or what might be in the glovebox. Show them a standard shitty stereo and they won't look twice. -
This R32 pulled up behind me, i thought it was cops on the night so pulled in to left lane and it went past. I saw it wasn't the cops so pulled behind it at the lights. Two lanes, one car in left lane, one car in right lane in front of me and the R32. We got to the roundabout at the top of the hill, which leads on to a about a 3/4 mile dual carriageway and this golf is right up the arse of this little micra. As we get onto the carriageway the micra pulls in and boooom the golf's off. I thought rock on, time to play so floored it and was right up it's back end to about 85, when we both eased off for the lights halfway down the hill which were on red. The golf pulled into the left lane and I rolled to the side and looked over, at least hoping for a bit of acknowledgement and what did I see? A TIDY bird smiling and checking me car out! Lights changed as we were rolling towards them and I cruised off a little, thinking she wasn't gonna gun it - but then all of a sudden she floors it again, comes up my left side and pulls in front and we both floor it. I was well chuffed though, cos we took it to 120 and she wasn't getting away at all. Is this normal for a VR to keep up with an R32? I thought those things were supposed to proper shift? Anyway, made my night =] btw, this was early morning (1am ish) , no cars about and a big wide road (national speed limit), so no need to call me a tw*t or anything - well ya can if ya want to. lol

I'm sure it does - until all the chips and dents from twats in car parks start to become far too visible!

Nice swift reply! Cheers bud.

Drivers side door trim is coming away from the door. Is there any special tape to use to stick it back on? looks like some sort of double sided tape on there at the mo.

Went to her work last night armed with a screwdriver (hefty one), jammed it in between the clasp that goes around the steering wheel, gave it a couple of big tugs and it just broke off. lol, took about 30 seconds, but only cos i was trying not to do any damage!
-
Actually, it would be funny for the cops to catch me. I might wear a boiler suit with arrow printed on it and a big balaclava. lol
-
will see about that one - not got a digi cam here. The lass might have hers with her at work (although it may have been in her lost bag =S )

sorted, i'd heard as much. Will take a big hammer and a big screwdriver. I'll report back on how long it takes to get off. heh

Anyone know how to get one of these stoplocks off without the key... To cut a long story short the girlfriend lost her bag last night with her car keys in. She got a key made up this morning and drove the car back from manchester, only to put the bloody steering lock on without thinking she ain't got the key to it anymore... doh! Now, i'm no stranger to breaking into cars (not a car thief, worked at a car auction in me youth!) but never had to try get a stop lock off. I hear pros can do them in less than a minute or something! I was thinking to take over a big hammer and an even bigger chissel and just break the thing off. Anyone got any advice?

phew, I noticed it on mine when I bought it and had a niggling feeling in the back of my mind ever since, that the motor was a ringer or something! I checked the welds all around the engine bay and it all looked factory so just dismissed it. Put my mind at rest too now, cheers! =]

Nice one, just went to the dealer in Leeds and got a set for 7.50 each + VAT. Cheers all! =]

ah cool, Cheers guys. Like I say, not had to have new plates for many years now. I heard about the change in law but never thought you could get around it by making your company name only slightly differnet shade than the background! I might just check out halfords tommorow lunch then, £25 sounds reasonable. I think I might araldite the new ones on there, no one will ever get them off then!
