  1. Right outside work, must have been around 5-6pm too just before I left! The bastards! Well pissed off, whats a new set cost £30ish? Not needed to have a new set of plates for years. Suprised me tho, cos if it was gonna happen, I'd have thought it would have been in Bradford as it happens all the time round ere. Usually get nicked to steal petrol and do the occasional armed robbery and such. Rang the cops just so I don't get done for holding up the local William Hill or something! So anyway, where can I get some plates in the Leeds area? I know Halfords do them, but i'd rather not have halfords emblazened on them (think it's law to have the company's name and details who produced them on the plates now or something). Hmmm. Maybe I should contact a sign writers or vinyl graphics place?
  2. If you want the vid compressing, i'll sort it for you. Gimme a shout.
  3. Sorted it, took plug number 1 out - oiled up nicely. Gave it a clean up and put it back in. Runs nice again... Sorry for the wasted time on this thread, it's just that it happened on the way to work and after searching the forum the symptoms pointed to MAF sensor! The plugs were oiled up a lot worse a couple of months ago and it still ran okay. Temperamental beast that it is... Thanks for your help anyway, hopefully now someone can help out Robbo149! Sorry bud.
  4. dr_mat - been over the oil issue in the past, now running Mobil1 15/50 and it seems to have slowed down the oil burning rate. I find it still burns oil on motorway runs, mostly over around 3.5krpm but I can cope with this for now (until I have some cash to sort it out properly) cheers for the suggestions kev, not sure that it 'wouldn't hurt' to have a new MAF sensor on there, i'm pretty sure it would hurt my wallet at the moment, especially with the prices I read about in a different thread! My brother has a VR too, so I might just drop by his place tonight and switch them over. Is it an easy job? Will I need to rest the ECU after swapping them over? If this makes no difference would it be wise to try spraying fine water mist over the coilpack trick tonight? Are these symptoms consistent with a dodgy coilpack too? hmmm, questions questions question...
  5. I just find it a bit odd that all of a sudden it starts to run really rough. If it was getting oiled up again, surely it would start missing a little bit, then get worse. Car has been running perfectly till part way through my journey this morning! :(
  6. I don't mean to hijack Robbo's thread, but would a duff MAF cause this lumpy/rough running then? I have recently fitted new ht leads (about a month ago) and plugs (a couple of months ago now) however, the old plugs 1 and 6 were rather oiled up. I'll check these tonight, perhaps they could be so oiled up again that they are preventing a decent spark? When my HT leads were knackered (or one of them) it just burbled now and again but didn't run anywhere near as bad as it is doing now.
  7. My car has been running fine, but this morning on my way to work it suddenly starting running lumpy and a bit 'juddery'. I've been reading up on this on the forum and thought i'd try unplugging the MAF sensor just now (lunchtime). First off better check, is the MAF sensor the one to the top left of the airbox on the intake pipe? (Never had a car with all these electronic gubbins everywhere!) Well if it is, I unplugged it and nothing happenned, when i plug it back in I get an ever-so-slight flutter in rpm and back to normal. I say normal, I mean back to normal lumpyness. Does this mean it's knackered? I thought the engine was supposed to die when unplugging the MAF?

EDGE Tuning is an online Japanese Tuning Parts company - the address above is their main office, they don't have a shop as such. http://www.edgetuning.co.uk is the website - think they still have some sections to add to complete the site. A friend of mine started it up, so i can vouch for the friendliness and professionalism! :D
  9. Yea, i've got the first DVD. SOme mentally fast riding. Also, if you liked that one check out http://www.getawayinstockholm.com/ First one is an old porsche racing through town, but if you lok closely it's spoiled by the fact you can see it is sped up slightly (lighthouse light going round far too quickly!) The second one is a supra and a cossie going at it through town at blinding speed, this one is my favourite purely for the grittyness of the film. The third one is an NSX, but not too keen on this one. Deffo check them out tho!
  10. Yea, I put html in then realised you're not allowed on here. and yea, lowering is on the agenda (after i stop the fooker smoking and burning oil!)
  11. and a sneaky one of my golf, that I need to sell
  12. http://www.mjinteriors.co.uk/ Bit far from you but the best =]
  13. Scott, i'll admit - I bottled it for now. Rang round a few places for costings on the job - just to see if it was cheap enough to get done somewhere, but prices i got for valve stem seal replacement were around £180 ish! However, i was advised to try some thicker oil first to see how that does. I thought that was a good idea, considering I didn't know what oil was in there when i bought the car (only what I was told, but you never know) It's not been using quite as much oil now, still WAY too much - so gonna do the comrpession /leak down tests this weekend and possibly have a go at the stem seals when i can afford to do without the car for a day if it takes longer than aticipated! (ie next weekend or something!)
  14. The police up towards skipton have had all kinds of speedy cars over the years, all marked. Escort cosworth first, then impreza and also an evo7 - all stickered up with lights too. Heh. They used to patrol the skipton bypass. Once a black unmarked old shape integra type-r turned up to a cruise in Blackpool years ago too. Main give-away was the two blokes sat inside with uniforms on (under their coats tho)
  15. http://www.cruiseboard.co.uk/shows/inters2004/ Email me a list of any you want and i'll send you them over full res if you like. They'll be on a proper report on Cruiseboard soon (read: when I can be arsed to set up the page properly...)
  16. Glad your happy! He is a Japanese Tuning specialist, but there is something many of us want that he can get for our corrados in the future, i'm sure I can organise some sort of group discount. Just somethign to bear in mind. 8)
  17. My buddy at http://www.edgetuning.co.uk can supply those units, at very competitive prices.
  18. Aqua Blue VR6 (i think vr6 anyway) this morning at about 8.50am coming onto the roundabout going towards pudsey/bramley (i was going towards the stanningley bypass) Gave you a wave as I came onto the roundabout.
  19. I think it was just as we were entering Melton, there were some coppers stood on the pedestrian crossing with a handycam filming all the cars. Speed limit was 40mph, but I came around the corner doing about 47-48 i think (we were trying to get some moving shots of those tidy old skool mark 1's) Just a bit worried here, as the cops filmed me and turned round as my passenger (photographer) took his belt off and started to hang out the window to take a snap, JUST as we went past them... Can they prosecute on speeding with a video camera? Logic tells me no, as there are too many variables with the video camera not being ina fixed position. But still, it worries me. Also, those bastard speed cameras on the way back up the A1 - the yellow, gatso-like ones that face towards you. I take it those are infra-red?

    21MPG

I was averaging 30.1mpg on the motorway this weekend, to/from inters which I was quite impressed with. That was with the occassional 130 blast too :)
  21. Nah, mine just cuts it after the preset amount of time to put in the code has passed, I think regardless of revs. To be honest, I couldn't give a foook if it invalidates my thatcham classification - I have a certificate which says it's thatcham approved (so my insurance is covered fine) and the fact that if someone tries to jack my car again, I can take great pleasure in knowing all I gotta do is run after em and catch the fuckers down the road. (Or have time to run in the other direction if they waved a gun at me this time) 8) Anyway, I thought the blackjax came standard with my Concept 500? They never said it wasn't thatcham approved, in fact nothing was mentioned at all.
